2012 Cobalt 276 Swim platform

hello i am new to this forum and also Cobalt boats. i recently purchased a 2012 276 and noticed that it had an option to add the "swim step" to its existing molded swim platform that year. My boat does not have it so i asked my dealer and he told me it could not be added now since it was not done at the factory due to the supports not being there. has anyone herd this also? my thought is would they really make the frame of the boat at the transom different for an added option? from the looks of others that have it the swim step bolts onto the existing molded platform underside.
any insight would be helpful.
thanks

Hey godboldmd. Welcome to the CChat forum. So glad you found us!
We just had Thunder550 add a swim platform to his 252. It's not the swim step obviously, but he may have a lead on platform info.
The swim step is an entirely different animal of course with that molded piece that flips down. Have not heard of anyone "modding" theirs to add that platform. Others will chime in though.
Once again, welcome aboard mate.

Just out of curiosity....do you have pics of boat? Where did you purchase it? I ask because i was recently looking at the same year and model and was planning on adding that extra step.

There are various swim steps.. I'm wondering if your referring to the infomaos "Fold Down " option?

Attached are two pics of the boat. it has the rear molded platform that comes standard with this year but it also had an option to add the swim step extension which mounted to the end of this existing platform and i have seen pics online of it.

Haha....small world. I almost bought that boat. She emailed me a contract the night before i got a call about an R7 at my marina, which i ended up buying instead. Shes a pretty boat. Cant imagine adding extra swim step is a big deal.

Ahhhhh the fold down.

Though it looks good without. Those platforms sit low to the water on the 276.. do you think you need it? It does apear integrated unlike 260-270 series prior years.
Nice boat! One of my favs!

Well that sucks a big fat one.....I wonder if there is a custom option of sorts. And the other question is do you want to pay for that....

It's not 7 years old. Call the factory for part number and avail.
Oh welcome from Wisconsin.

Thanks all!! i tried my local dealer and they said it wasn't an option due to something about it not having the correct support for it. I will call the factory to check since they said it was an available option for my model and year.
will keep you posted

That sounds very similar to the stainless wakeboard arch on the 260 series. Can’t just add that because the factory reinforces the hull first before mounting in order to handle the tow loads.

Why wouldn't they reinforce all hulls the same? That easy it's done the same way everytime.

Nice looking 276! I have the sister boat, the 273, with the extended platform. The extended platform is supported with two arms. The arms are bolted to the transom, to the underside of the standard platform and the underside of the extended platform. Attached is a screen shot of a walk around video or my 273 that kind of shows the setup.
