What has your dealer said about holding 2021 price for you? I paid a significant deposit and agreed to a price or so I thought. it's weird to me that means nothing in the boating world. From a dealer's perspective I get they are being told they are getting less boats so they need to make every penny they can out of the boats they do receive.

Wait they are raising your price? When you said the dealer now has to pay the 2022 price I didn't realize they wanted you to do that too. My brother was considering upgrading around jan/feb/march. From the time he got his first quote in Jan, when he talked to them again in march they told him that the 2021 slots were gone and now they were charging 2022 prices. He decided to keep his current boat, and didn't get a price. But they should have known back in march if you were in the 2021 slots or the 2022 slots. I wouldn't accept a price jump, that would turn me away from a dealer real fast.

You have a bound contract with your down payment. Did they give you a receipt?

My understanding is that the only information provided to my dealer from Cobalt is (1) several missed dates for completion and delivery and (2) that Cobalt will deliver a 2022 boat. No discussion on price increase or otherwise. I cannot fault Cobalt for supply chain issues and delays. I understand, it is a mess in the manufacturing business at the moment and will likely continue to be this way. My dealer has been great to work with and seeks information from Cobalt regularly. My main area of concern, which I have voiced multiple times on this form, is that Cobalt can do better with communication between itself and its dealers.

Yep I have hand written pricing on a build sheet that I signed. However, why should the dealer eat the price increase on a boat Cobalt has failed to deliver in the model year? Shouldn't it be Cobalt? We didn't discuss specific build slots whether they be 21 or 22 but we were all under the assumption of 2021 prices since 2022 prices were just published a couple of weeks ago. I, too, am most disappointed that my dealer has received very little communication from Cobalt. They have no idea of dates and if Cobalt is catching up at all. I believe them when they say they can't get answers to simple questions. Once the boat finally gets here we will see what happens pricing wise, but they have said they can't hold the price because Cobalt has raised their prices. Everything about this tells me it's just the wrong time to be buying a boat, but damn it I want the R6 Surf.

How much did the price increase from 2021 to 2022? In addition is the dealer proposing to reduce the discount from MSRP?

I'm pretty sure In that contact in really small letters it says prices may vary depending on price increase from the manufacture. It's in there somewhere.

My calculations show an increase of 8-9% across the board. On our deal we received what I felt was a good discount for the times. Not great, but good knowing getting a great discount is highly unlikely.

Big Block, what I have isn't a formal contract. It's a printed build sheet with discounted price signed by me and acknowledging receipt of deposit check. I wouldn't go to court over something like this, and while it was a gentlemen's agreement, plus I don't believe what I have is a strong agreement.

The frustrations Covid continue....

Yes when I heard you signed a build sheet I took it that way as it wasn't a contract. Yea this stupid I think will go through next year then hopefully back to what ever normal is going to be for all of us.

Even if you wanted take them to court what would you do if there was ever a problem with the boat during warranty?
I think if this had happened to us I would wash my hands of boating.

I would never take legal action over this. I just wouldn't buy if I felt I was truly getting screwed. My dealer contacts I feel are good people and I am a past customer of theirs with a tritoon purchase. What I'll hope for is a couple % pts more to help with the price increase at least some. However, fully aware they could be selling the same boat to someone else at a much higher price so they don't need me as a customer for this R6.

Y'all are great...when I hear/learn more I'll come back to share. Cheers~

Good news. I received an update from my dealer on Friday. The R8s has arrived at the dealership. My understanding is that the dealer received about 24 hours notice prior to arrival. I have seen some pictures and it looks great. I'll share them later. Just for the benefit of the group, original estimated delivery date of June 7th; actual delivery of Aug 28th. Looking forward to getting it on the water next summer.

Nice T95. After reading about another user’s experience with their R8 and quality issues I’ll be curious to hear about your experience after delivery. Keep us posted my friend.

I live in Central Mn and I’m not done with summer yet! Why wait too get it in the water till next summer? I would be splashing that thing next week if it was delivered to my dealer this week! I would just make a deal with them to winterize it for me in a couple months when summer ends. If I was waiting all year for my new boat I wouldn’t wait another year to get it in the water. I would have it worn out garage boating! Lol
