- I’ve read several conversations here about the sound of the old 8.2l vs this 6.2l. I don’t know what the 8.2 sounds like but this one definitely sounds great when you accelerate hard. I think it’s quieter than my regal with the 5.7 when cruising which is a big bonus if you want to talk. I’m pretty happy with the sound
- First boat I have ever sat in that had a good view of where you were going with the bolster down so you’re looking through the windshield. I’ve always had to look over the glass before
- A little faster than advertised. The GPS bounces around but seems to average 56 to 58 at full throttle and trim at 29 degrees. I’m still playing with that trying to guess the best spot. I’m curious what setting others get there too end at
- Why didn’t anyone warn about the damn Bimini? The delivery guy told me it was a 2 person job. Of course I tried it alone and did everything in the wrong order. It took a good 25 minutes to figure it out. I think it will 5-10 minutes next time if I do it in the right order but still it’s not something you want to open and close several times a day. Most importantly though, it was rigid and silent at over 50 mph so I’m happy with it.
- I bought trim tabs because of this chat group. The salesman said no need for them. I’m happy to say I’ve used them several times and like having them. Saves feeling like a dick asking people to rearrange themselves.
- This boat is very solid. I knew that from a test drive but after several days of driving it under different conditions I’m happy that we all notice the difference from the slightly shorter Regal.
- Salesman’s break in instructions were ‘don’t drive at WOT all day long’. After break in no problem. This is a lot less conservative than most comments on this site but I tend to agree with him that break in isn’t really required. No one breaks in cars anymore and I’m too old to spend 20 hours going slow

Ive included a picture of the first boat I got to drive by myself. It’s a 14’ Traveler with a 40 Evinrude (I spelled my own name wrong for some reason). It was white on the sides so I included it. R5 is in boathouse which is still under construction and at a restaurant stop with the family
