So........I'm sanding on my boat and have one side done with 800 grit and you can see the shine coming back already but if you look close there is kind of a "orange peel" like look to it,is that normal or do I need to sand more? The really nice shine that is under the old numbers and lettering doesn't seem to be changing when I sand over it like it doesn't show any sign of being sanded and is a bit darker that the rest of the hull is that from sun fade or do I need to sand more? Good part is it's much smoother and shinier where I've sanded.
The goal is to get it to look like our doors under the decals.
Doors??

Ah just found the switch to turn off the auto replace word. Maybe that will help. I doubt it but worth a try.

It looks like it's trying to shine again but there's a long way to go yet.

I've been working on my fenders a bit, these are before and after pictures of them. It's hard to see but there are white non slip tapes on both sides of the blue one. Not sure I like them it might look better with one white and two blues. I'm trying to cover up the old stripes,I tried to get the old ones off but they are really on there and I was putting the non skid tape on any way so I just sanded them smooth and am going over the top of them.

Good idea I just don't like that color blue. A bit darker maybe?
But how close is it to the hull color?

The boat is dark blue and the tape is a mediam blue so they don't really look good when you get them together. Glad you asked that I didn't think about it. I'm going to see if I can find something that matches up better or I may just go all white????? Bad part about doing the fenders and the wheels is they look nice but they make the rest of the trailer look pretty skaggy.

have a sign shop cut you some vinyl that matches the blue, guarantee if you bring a good picture of the blue they can get almost a perfect match. Heck, I've probably got some in stock, I'd only charge you shipping, but that may be more than they would charge you.

Thanks for the idea and the offer. I keep saying "tape" but it's actually non skid tape I'm wanting to do that so I don't fall off the fenders when their wet.My only concern is that the old vinyl has cracks in it and that they might show through. There is a sign shop in town that does nice work maybe I should go see them. I talked to them once about a new face for my old TIG welder and they said they'd done a lot of them.
