I had been debating about Aqua Marine deck or Sea dek flooring. However, I was not ready to have this stuff adhered to the floor to where I cannot pull it up to clean things out, but I wanted something to put down to make the floor a little more cushiony and attractive. So I ordered the Duraweave Teak 503 from MatWorks Ltd.
I got my mats and started to install the pieces from the aft to the bow. I got the first piece down and went to get the second piece. As I stepped onto the piece I just laid down I quickly jumped back and let a few cuss words out. The matieral was freakin' HOT.
I got out my laser thermometer and thermal camera out. The mat got to 153 degrees vs the white deck was 113 degrees. I figured the material would be warmed but not 40 degrees hotter and hot enough to cause a burn in a second of contact time!
When I contacted Matworks they said they do not do refunds and that since they dont make the Duraweave material I would have to talk with the makers of the Duraweave material, Infinity Luxury Woven Vynil.So now I have a fight on my hands.

Not sure what you mean about the previous floor? All I have been used to was the white fiberglass floor. It has never burned me. I have the aquamat type material on my swim platform and extended swim platform. I assumed this material would be about as hot as it would get...Nope...Way HOTTER!!! I personally like to boat barefoot. I hate it when people wear shoes in my boat and step on the seats with them and then when the floor gets wet then the dirt gets everywhere... I was hoping that with these snap in mats I could get the white good and clean. Correct. Just the snaps where in the floor. I was looking for a nice clean teak type look and maybe some padding. Obviously you know most dark nylon carpets,, grass mat will have similar heat absorption. I had a off white Berber in a boat years ago that was cool. But spotted just looking at it.
If you haven’t put the snaps in the rest of your floor I’d sell them and go lighter in color. Limited painful loss then.

Suck because I have to trailer it where I am going to boat. So I would have to go get a bucket or two of water to wet everything down prior to launching the boat. Then stop and rewet things when it dries out...
