HUGE HUGE swells on Lake Erie again yesterday. We put in at the Outer Harbor and ventured past the breakwall for a little "deadliest catch" style fun
We all got soaken wet, but what a effin riot!
The boat handles it pretty darn good in larger water. Big bow planters and falling off a cliff waves. Turning 180 and going with them is like boat surfing..so high in the air, the bow looks like it's 15' above the water.

I wish we took some, but we were all holding on...Either for dear life, or for laughing too hard to grab a camera.
I'm sure there will be a "next time" with the way this area of the lake behaves.
It's probably something inland Lake boaters don't get to experience.. it's a lot of fun, but only "fun" because when it gets old, we can duck behind the breakwall or go into the Niagara river.

I was goin' to say, I don't remember seeing those kind of rollers down by Presque Isle.

Of course, be careful about plowing that bow under or suddenly you find yourself as a full bathtub.

I do remember "surfing" ocean waves in a 38' sailboat we chartered years ago and it was quite fun.

Here is the aftermath of the Donzi 43zr

That Donzi zr did that out here in front of Stinson beach ( potato patch)just outside the Golden Gate Bridge..below the shipping lanes
broke it at the helm.broke in the middle. broken leg etc..
He drove it back..

What the heck. How big of waves was he hitting and how fast. He got lucky it didn't sink.

30 foot drop.. running the shallows he didn't see he was inward of the swells..

Geeze should I turn around?? ..beach it for saftey?? Nahhhhhh where are in a movie and there's a guy on the beach filming me!!
