shrfdeputy wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2019 10:33 am I put that exact JVC head unit in my 95 252 when we did a big stereo upgrade earlier this year. I have been extremely impressed with it. I used a high end shop to have the stereo installed and they said the recommend that head unit all the time. I thought it was an incredible value at less than $150. We have 4-5 phones that can link up to it at any time depending on who is with us, and I love that it doesn't "forget" your device when you turn the battery switch off.
Agreed. So far it has exceeded my expectations

I think the net storage probably came from Cobalt directly or from the dealer maybe? They're real handy for storaging things you don't need every minute.

I got the exhaust manifolds and risers off yesterday. They're in ok shape, but the gaskets need replacing, the plugs needs to be resealed, and just overall cleaning would get them looking new again. Going to work on that next week. I also got the brass elbows to replace the OEM plastic ones. Should make for a nice upgrade and peace of mind.

Those look nice! I'm all about upgrades, but intake and exhaust upgrades on a naturally aspirated motor are never worth it. If it was super/turbo charged that would be an entirely different story.

One manifold done:
* Cleaned the gasket surfaces and checked for flatness
* Sanded down every part of the manifold that I could get to to remove rust and build-up
* Sprayed the inside down good with degreaser, then with brake cleaner, then compressed air to get all the gunk out
* Sprayed the manifold with rust converter/blocker
* Sprayed the manifold with high temp gloss black engine enamel

Have to wait for it to dry up, then I'll be running a tap through all the threaded holes for final prep

Rained today so I didn't get to start on the other manifold and the risers. Instead took the time to run a tap through the five 3/4" holes for the four plugs and one elbow. The factory threads were terribly done, not deep enough and also slightly crooked. Cleaned them all out and ran the two down to the proper depth. They should be ready for the new plugs and elbow now. Make sure you oil your tap before starting!!

Also picked up an Alpine SWR-12D4 from a local who bought it but didn't use it on his project. I have to build a custom sealed box for it that I'll try to get to next month. Should help round out the audio.

Oh ya. It's a big boy. I'm trying to decide what to use for the enclosure material. So far I'm looking at either fiberglass, HDPE, or bedlined MDF (sealed enclosure for sure). A lot of it also depends on where I end up mounting it.

Also got to peak at the new-to-me 26P props that I got. I don't need bothsl sets, so one set will be for sale soon if anyone needs.
IMG_20191212_140238.jpg

I finally got to pick up new battery too. I picked up 3 new Group31 Duracell AGM Marine batteries. Going to wire one as the starting battery, and two of them as house batteries to run the electronics.
