Totally agree with ya' there TG98. In fact, I think I like the look of the concept version better. :? To me, the upside down triangle under the windshield breaks up the smooth flowing lines as does the base of the arch design. Probably trying to be more edgy.

Maybe they will offer a stainless arch option in addition to the fiberglass arch like they did with the earlier 260 series.

I'm curious as to the patent-pending apparatus discussed in the newswire as well as the caption under the picture....

"features including the patent-pending Splash & StowTM inflatables management system (IMS)." :?:

"Enabling owners to readily deploy, retrieve and store their water recreation devices, the built-in Splash & Stow system is a convenient way to enjoy the latest generation of inflatable rafts, paddleboards, and floating cabanas."

And I guess mid cabin's are the new rave. Seems formula and Cobalt are both latching on to them. Personally I've always thought the closed bow was just wasted space for my boating. I completely understand it for the boaters that boat in big water or rough water conditions. I took my last open bow boat to the ozarks and took on water in the big wake.

I can say it is not enough for me to cancel my deal on my pending R7. I would assume this boat will cost north of 200k after discounts.

I also wonder at 29ft and 7200lbs if it will be offered with twins. That is a long heavy boat to be pushed by a single motor.

It will most certainly be powered by twins tg98. It's very rare to find anything over the 26-27 foot range without dual horsepower. It's just too tough to manage with crosswinds....especially during low speed maneuvers. :|

you would be surprised A7. When I first decided I was going to sell the 262 I was looking at 2010-14 296's and they are almost impossible to find with twins. And the ones you do find have twin 350's. I also see a lot of 282's with a single 496 around here too.

It appears I'm an hour too late to break the news... What to say... I kinda like it?

I think I have to see a smaller open bow version. Holding out for now.

What's that saying...if you cant say anything nice don't say anything at all? I can honestly say that's the first cobalt I have seen and said "uhhh wow that's ugly" Just weird lines and that arch isn't helping things. Compare that to some of the new formula offerings and there is no way you pick an A29.

Hopefully not an indication of where their design team is going. Lets hope the new R looks better.

I feel like I can't see it. The color scheme isn't helping it either. If it was black? IDK yet.

Yeah, need to see one in person I guess, or at least pictures of a few different angles. It's the weird tower mounts that are throwing it off for me I think, but you are right the color scheme isn't helping.

Maybe I should clarify. The new A29 will have twins. Can you order it without twins? possibly. Not wise though. At least with twin 350's you can maneuver. Like you, however, I would order the A29 with the higher horsepower twins 'cause that's how we roll (w/ CC open). 8-)

As far as the 296 goes (nice boat btw with that center walk thru :D )....currently on Boat Trader, the majority of the 2010-14 296's listed have twins. Did some folks order them without twins....yes. Again, not wise. Those are the ones that sit on the market (that blue one on BT has been there over a year). They are just too under-powered and too difficult to maneuver at low speed while docking in crosswinds.

282's with singles....yup they are out there too and that's what you are seeing—just sitting unsold on the "for sale" market. Many boat manufacturer's (Cobalt included) also went into cost saving mode with single engine options to save as much money as they could & sell to anyone they could just to keep the lights on after the Great Recession of 2008.
