It's something. Didn't really know what, if anything I was after. For now I think it's probably ok but if the cracks keep spreading at least he said they would fix it. Now I gotta figure out what to do about the delaminating gelcoat.

I took the boat in to a fiberglass/gelcoat shop today for an estimate on the giant crack on the sponson, and ended up leaving it there for them to fix. Guy said it was just an air void or pocket or whatever, easy fix. Should be all patched up in a week or two. Happy she's getting fixed up but I hate leaving my boat in someone else's possession.

Trying doing it for 4 months. I can't wait for spring.

I would laugh if it wasn't true.

Called for an update today, air void is filled and new gelcoat is sprayed. Needs another day to wet sand it out and reattach that damn swim platform brace AGAIN. Probably pick it up Friday. Guy said the void was a lot bigger than he was expecting. He called Cobalt and they wanted $300 for a gallon of the factory color so he mixed and color matched his own as close as possible instead. Given the area the repair is in, as long as he got close it should hopefully look ok.

I would have called spectrum gel coat. Maybe they would have had it? I'm sure they are going to be close anyways that's there job.

Bahhhaaaa....now it makes sense why you bought that key lock drain plug that I read about in the other thread, t550!

I launched without the drain plug with our 1st boat. Yelled to my wife to back the trailer back in as I kept up on plane so as to not let the water in. Almost sunk our brand new Donzi. Thank god for bilge pumps.

Btw, great to hear they fixed the cracking, t550.
...and yes, I am a BIG proponent of fender washers for anything screwed or thru bolted in order to distribute the pressure.

yep it's been working ok so far. The part with holding the key in doesn't work that great so I just thread the plug in and hook it up to the keyring. When the plug gets installed, the holder comes off the keyring and goes in the glove box.

I wonder how many boats have been lost to missing drain plugs? That would be an interesting number.
