I'll take the opposite view. For my next boat I'll order both. I wet slip my boat and it sits out under the hot sun for 3 months through the summer, 5 days a week not being used. I'd like to cover the top of the deck at the front of the boat to keep it from the sun and more of the aft deck than is covered by the cockpit tonneau during the 5 day period each week the boat sits idle. On the weekends, I'd use the easier to take off/put on cockpit covers. Now, I just need to find storage space for the extra cover(s).

Doesn't the mooring cover cover the entire boat? Seems redundant to have both. Not sure the pros/cons for mooring vs tonneau. From my vantage point seems the mooring as all pros and no cons, but I'm new to boating so I don't know much.

if your boat in the summer is going to be on a lift above the water or on the trailer get the mooring cover and thats it. yes it is redundant you would put on one or the others. The mooring cover goes over the swim platform which for the R series is very close to the water line. So those that wet slip like the tonneau cover because it does not cover the platform and stays dry.

I have my R5 in a wet slip at my house. It's an L shaped dock so no access to the starboard side. Very easy to put the mooring cover on. In fact its faster than my old boat that had a snap in cockpit cover and that boat was a cuddy so no bow area to cover.
My R5 has a cockpit cover for the bow area. I can put the mooring cover on in the same time it takes to put on just that one cover.

Same here. I wish I would have bought the mooring cover at the 30% discount during order so I can throw it on for long term storage. We use the tonneaus for towing and weekend covers.

This summer I bought a cheaper cover that is light weight, doesn't fit as tight, goes on easy with one person, and extends the life of our mooring cover.
But we're in a covered 30' x10' slip, so I don't have to worry about rain. Plus we have easy access on star, I can walk on the divider on port side.

New cobalt build cover is $1683 - whatever % off MSRP you get and you're probably looking at $1400ish.

I just purchased a Cobalt mooring cover for just over $1600 including tax and a little shipping cost. I had a quote of $2800 to make one for me out of Aqualon fabric and it would have been an up charge to go with Sunbrella like the Cobalt factory mooring cover. My mooring cover even works perfectly with my EZ fold system.

When we bought our boat everything on the build was 30% off list. So yes I could have had a mooring cover for $900 vs $1340 now. Now if we ordered a new boat today that 30% discount is GONE and I would be lucky to get 10%.

I get both. Use the tonneau covers when getting right back at it tomorrow to keep the sun, due, and rain off short term, and use the mooring cover for longer term storage. When spending this much money on a new boat you should have everything needed to keep it proper. Under 2% the cost of the boat for the mooring and tonneau covers is a good investment.

I do love the mooring cover that Cobalt sells for these boats. However, they don't last nearly as long as a Sunbrella cover. Mine is a 2017 and I am looking at possibly getting another cover in a year or so. My boat has been stored indoors in the off season since it was put into service in the beginning of 2018. It sat outside for awhile before it was purchased.

I am finalizing my R6 order in the next few days and trying to decide between the mooring cover or the separate bow and cockpit covers. My boat is on a lift with the dock on the port side and a bench on the starboard side. Can the mooring cover be installed easily when the boat is on a lift? I prefer the better coverage of the mooring cover for sure
