If this is the swim platform that Cobalt won the patent infringement lawsuit against Brunswick (I think), maybe Cobalt should take some of the winnings, make a better plunger/pin, and recall them.. Mine hasn’t broken. Yet.

Just to update my thoughts. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Ours broke after looking on this thread. We continued to use the boat. Got a new pin, knob, spring unit. It's been sitting in my boat for almost a year.
I haven't really seen the need to use it. Swim platform stays down when we're on it, moves up and down with waves when we're not on it.
Am I being foolish? (Question for anyone but BB, I can guess his answer)

I did the same thing, mine broke a couple times under warranty and I had it fixed. Once it broke out of warranty I bought the pin and its been sitting in the glove box ever since. It just floats in the waves when down, no need to lock it down.

I have a brand new knob/shaft replacement from my R5Surf. Its They will lossen and fall out or sometimes the shaft will snap. Contact me for this part.
I also have a brand new prop for a forward dive surf, replacement swim step and mat for the swim platform.

I had the same problem with the step on my 24SD. I removed the pin assembly and drilled through the stainless steel. I used a SS toggle clevis pin like the one pictured below with a lanyard fastened to the step. It worked great and was stronger than the Cobalt pin. The clevis pin was a larger diameter and it prevented the step from floating when deployed. I felt better with the pin installed during trailering also.

I have 2019 220S but believe knob is same....mine just fell off at some point in the water........I pushed my dealer and he was able to get me new from COBALT under warranty even though my warranty had expired. You can try it....my position was that it's a terrible design evident by the widespread issue with many owners.

I'm on my third one in three years. I don't think they break, they seem to unseat or unscrew themselves. Last summer I simply did without and had no issues. Got another one coming from the dealer, who also recommended putting locktite on it. If this one falls off, I'll be out of warranty and will go the $2 hardware store route.

They just break due to the forces applied to it with wave action. The step moves a lot of water when the boat goes up and down in waves. I’ve had about 3 break under warranty and now I just use a $3 pin from the hardware store.

Hello Everyone - new to this site and thread but I arrived due to the above stated issue. Bought my replacement ($230) plunger and attempted to install it yesterday. It looks pretty straight forward but I couldn't get the threads of the pin to come out of the other end or the hole it installs into. I have a 2013 R4. Does anyone have video or instructions on how to install the replacement plunger? I have my tools and loctite ready to go. Just need some visuals. Thanks!
