sailor55330 wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:12 am Sorry to hear of the issues. My boat does not have the soft trac or Seadek as I have Seagrass. I asked my dealer about installing it on the swim platform and they highly advised not doing it as they had so many issues like this.

On a side note, does anyone have large dogs that have the Softtrac/Seadek type material? I was a boat show and there was a company (I don't remember the manufacturer) who told me that dog nails wouldn't hurt it. I took their small business card size sample and shredded it with my thumbnail in front of them and asked how it would hold up to a 65lb dog jumping off or climbing on. They looked me in the eye and said "no issues".

I guess for $300 for a swim platform you can't expect too much. LOL
We have it on our swim platform and my 65lb Australian Shepherd's claws do scuff it up. However it's not destroying the pad. You can definitely see scuffs and claw marks but only up close. We do try to make an effort to not have her climb up on the pad. She'll hop on the swim step then either my wife or I will spot her as she jumps in. Not a big issue at all. I'm happy we have it. Especially for the young kids to have extra traction.
That's good to hear. I'm thinking it's not for me. My dogs tear the heck out of oak floors with their claws if they get excited, so I'm thinking a soft trac type mat has no chance.
Yeah - my dogs are the same. However, you don't get people ringing the door bell and having your pups try to go from sitting to 100mph in a flash. My dog doesn't ever try to run from one end to the other - so that scratching (because they're trying to get traction) doesn't happen.

Oh I know—-just thought I’d give you something to look at in the dog training world with field trials. My dogs are not the angels you seem to think they are!

Went to the S. Florida dealer today to check on my Sof Trac situation. Replacement still on order from April.

Salesman told me they will not order Sof Trac on any new bots because of the failure rate. Told him I’d write to Cobalt to add fuel to the fire. Thousands of premium dollars for an inferior product. My Dad would equate it to a sharp suit being worn with shabby shoes.

Wow. I wonder if losing such a large partner such as Cobalt puts Softrac out of business.

Bummer that this still hasn't been resolved OP

Did they switch from marine mat because of similar issues?

No idea but that was only 5 years ago or less. You didn't hear that much of it to now so I don't think so
