Personally i like 5. Or less. no wake. Just enough to get the breeze moving. Then I sing to my captives. Maybe a little Christina, Maybe a little Floyd.

Interesting that y'all are getting a near match on cruising speed and rpm's. Mine is still in the break in period, so haven't run her too hard, but it seems to me that 3,000 rpm's shows about 25 on the speedo, which suggests less than what others might be seeing. I haven't verified this with any gps and I am going from memory.

Maybe I'm underpowered? I only have 300 ponies.

it can be multiple factors. it could be prop's, HP, Are you trimmed all the way down?

Or water chop or ambient temperature or barometric pressure or people and gear or bimini up or down or full gas tanks or not holding your mouth just right. It all makes a difference!

Most boat engines are pretty stout and can take a beating. I'm not talking hours on end at full throttle, but if it's properly tuned and maintained ... you shouldn't have to worry about extended full throttle runs. I've run mine wide open for about 30 minutes at a time with no second thoughts.

Hell ... if something does go south ... (after crying), i'll look at it as an opportunity to build it better than before!
