No. The plate mounts to the seat base and the cushion sits on the plate. Screws go through the plate to mount the cushion.
Hi Boatrover, I don't recall any holes through which mounting screws could pass thru.. Did you add those after the pictures you shared, by any chance? Or the did screws pass by the outside of the plate near the chamfered corners?

I did not get any pictures of the clearance holes. Sorry

Just wanted to report I completed my booster seat repair thanks to a kit I purchased from Slideruleracer. It was not only an easy fix but now a much stonger seat design thank to Boatrover’s design and Slideruleracer’s excellent craftsmanship. Anyone who needs this fix, I highly recommend you reach out to Slidruleracer!

Thanks again Chris for everything! :D

Great to hear everything worked out. I hope the holes to mount the cushion were not too much trouble.

Nope. They were pretty easy. Hardest part was cleanup all the grime. Lol.

@slideruleracer - Glad I found this post. Looks like I'm in need of at least 1 kit for my seats on my 2011 262. The passenger seat base is cracked on both sides where the hinges attach. I removed the back cushion of the seat to check it out. The driver seat may also have a similar issue but not as severe. Question though - I tried removing the screws that attach the bolster to the plastic base and can't budge them. Any suggestions on getting these out?

Yeah, those can be a real bear - especially where your boat has been subjected to salt/brackish water.
My advice is to use something like aerokroil and let it sit, and then I use a handheld impact driver. Worst case, you drill them out. You don't reuse the threaded holes in the seat pan when you install the repair kits, so it's not a big deal to get new screws. You do not need to remove the hinges from the bolster, so if those are also stuck, just leave them.

I have a 2017 Cobalt R7 Surf and I have the same problem. My captain's chair has fractured at the plastic base where the bolster is attached with bolts. Both myself and my dealer have contacted Cobalt and the response is: not on warranty, must purchase new entire seat ($3,500). They do not simply sell the cheap, plastic base for repair.

@slideruleracer ; I would be interested in the bars you have fabricated if it will fit a 2017 . . . Are they stainless steel? thank you!

The repair kit plate is not stainless, it is aluminum. I'm not sure if the 2017 rotomolded base is different or not.. It sure looks like the same layout but the upholstered sides (arm rests) are definitely different. Can you measure between the holes attaching your bolster hinges to the rotomolded base? If those measurements are the same, then my guess is the repair kit will fit.

I have attached photos of my 2017 Cobalt broken seat with measurements for reference. It looks like the same as the seat you have repaired. Do you think your repair kit will work on my seat? Thank you very much!
