I have measured it before and although it seemed there was enough room, I think I'd need to try. I've tried to put stuff together before and found that some combination of shape and angle prevented a clean install. Just because it looks like there is enough room to fit the faceplate doesn't mean that inserting the unit into the dash puts the faceplate where you were hoping it would go. Anyway...
