Already got a response from SC Wake below.
unfortunately the snap in feature is not something we currently offer as a certified fabricator. Although we do not offer the snap in, please keep our company in mind for your seadek needs. I always recommend the adhesive over a snap in simply for the cleaning of it. With the snap in there is still the possibility dirt can get underneath so it would have to be taken out to be cleaned whereas the adhesive nothing can get underneath and it doesn’t absorb anything. A simple scrub brush with some cleaner or even just a hose that you can spray it down and it’s good to go!

The interesting thing is it sounds like they have more faith in the adhesive for the boat interiors despite Manufacturers gravitation to snaps. I’ll let y’all know what Aquamarine says.

So below is Aquamarine’s response.
Good Morning!
We only have the peel and stick adhesive backing. This actually will not do any damage unlike the snap in, for ex: if something like dirt, rocks, etc get underneath it it can damage the deck of the boat (scratches etc) With our product it will not allow water to get underneath or anything else. If our product does need to be removed the only thing may have to do is remove excess glue (which will not damage the deck) + the best part you do not have to take our product in and out which is less work. =) please let me know if you have any questions.Thank you!

It appears the snap-ins are just for the new boats and are to provide versatility. While I understand the logic, isn’t what is good for the goose also good for the gander?

Re: Group Buy - Aquamarine Deck Pad
I'm not sure what the difference would be with snaps on this material vs. normal carpet or seagrass. With normal snap carpet or seagrass you still have to all those same "risks" as noted by Aqua Marine and SC Wake. Rocks and dirt can get under those just as easily I suppose. One of my biggest concerns on the adhesive would be what happens if one of the sections get damaged (scraped - this can happen and has happened to me). Then you have to scrape that section up. Also, with Sea Dek I had an area on my 240 that got some kind of dirt on and it was a M'Fo' to get cleaned off. However, that being said, I really, really love the look of the faux teak material and think it looks awesome laid down throughout the boat.

Ok my 2 cents. I have not installed it in the cockpit because of the color. Mine needs constant cleaning and that has been my hesitation from putting it in the cockpit. It would and is easier to clean with it glued down. I'll tell you it's a bitch to clean the glue off. I feel you would have to install new mat flooring because it's a bitch to get all off. Plus from scrubbing so hard you will remove the white gell color. I love the look of mine but on the fence of doing the cockpit.

+1. I’m always on my hands and knees with a scrub brush scrubbing my swim platform. Where my sea grass carpet I yank it out of the boat spray it off with a hose let it dry and back in the boat it goes good as new.Big Block Power wrote: Wed Jan 09, 2019 5:43 pm Ok my 2 cents. No way would I ever do a full boat with the glue down stuff. Plus once it starts to peel you are done. Just pull it up and get a new piece

It is for all these reasons I bumped this thread in search of a mat with snaps for the cockpit. I feel as though the tactic is for them to new boat sales rather tha. Supply a product where there is clearly a demand.

Re: Group Buy - Aquamarine Deck Pad
I think a huge component in this product and being happy with it is color. The brown stuff is easier to maintain than the grey stuff. I've had both and had to maintain both. They both get dirty, but Brown is easier. The grey shows EVERYTHING while the brown is more forgiving.
For the swimdeck and entry I absolutely think the product is well worth it.
That being said, I wouldn't put it in the entire boat. Yes it's nice on your feet, yes it looks great, but you know how much trash and dirt and junk you find in the floor when you pull your carpet up? All that crap is still there and not going away. So you'll have that to deal with every time you clean out the inside of your boat. It's really just a power wash and your done.
With snap--in, there is still a maintenance factor in taking it out, washing it off, letting it dry, and cleaning the inside of the boat. Is 1 quicker or easier than the other? It's up to you...

Re: Group Buy - Aquamarine Deck Pad
I agree with everything you said YT. It is definitely a personal choice but the pad just feels so good!!!! For me I took the carpet out and don’t use it. I just use the standard flirting which is tiring at the end of a long day. I like the pads durability but don’t want it permanently installed. What’s does everyone else think? What is your ideal cockpit flooring? Should it be removable or only permanent?

Re: Group Buy - Aquamarine Deck Pad
I don't mind my factory carpet, but when it's time to replace I'll be putting seagrass in. The seadeck looks awesome, but as already mentioned is higher maintenance, even if they want to claim otherwise.

Re: Group Buy - Aquamarine Deck Pad
I'm in the camp of being removable in the cockpit and glue-down on the platform. Perhaps it's the same reasons the OEM's are requesting removable only in their new boats.
This seems to be one of the few aftermarket offerings with snap-in....

Needs better designs, looks like a foam version of the factory carpet unless you want some goofy pattern.Holy Smokes wrote: Thu Jan 10, 2019 9:13 am I'm in the camp of being removable in the cockpit and glue-down on the platform. I can't believe marine mat does not offer teak looking option.

Re: Group Buy - Aquamarine Deck Pad
Looks like they have teak looking options on their gallery tab. Guessing they have the same options in snap-in & stick down versions.
