Warmest I've ever seen is 86. How deep is your lake? Ours is over 250 feet at the dam when it's full. Seems like shallower water heats up more.

How does elevation effect engine performance? Wasnt aware of that.

Higher elevation means thinner air, which means less oxygen to burn. Engine power comes from the mixture of fuel and oxygen burning, so when you have less of it there's less potential energy.

Ours is close to 200 at the dam. Up on the north end where the river comes in its 60 in the channel and about 30 or 40 everywhere else. And yeah, in the shallow spots it can really heat up!

So yours is comparable. No idea why there would be that much of a difference then. There is some snow melt from up north but a lot of the water comes from a canal that pulls water from Havasu on the Colorado River. I'm sure there's a good explanation but I have no idea what that is.

I've been trying to capture an impressive lightning strike for several years, but I was always out of position or setup wrong until this week during a trip to Lake Powell, Utah. This was captured with an Olympus E-M1 Mark II with a 7-14mm Pro.
