I never got any pictures of the umbrella up. It was overcast yesterday with a good breeze and absolutely awesome on the lake. Then in the afternoon we just cruised around the lakelooking at marinas, docks and boats. Maybe next weekend.

YT - I get the mega million royalties for the thumbscrew.
Are you sure SR is including the thumbscrew. He might be holding out for one of those "Cobalt" add-ons (must I mention the $1000 umbrella).

Ha! Paying a thousand for this option would be like undergoing torture with a thumb screw!

Here's an update.. The tooling came in. Unfortunately, the roller steady rest was still too small for this tubing out of the box, so I'm going to have to modify it. But I managed to nearly finish the first one. The finish has some minor imperfections, but all that's left is welding in the 1/2-13 bolt and the nut for the thumb screw. On one side there will be the clearance hole for the spring loaded button, if you use an umbrella similar to the factory model, and on the other side will be a welded nut to thread in a stainless thumb screw, if you go the wally world route. The umbrella must not have tubing larger than 1.375" in diameter, otherwise, it won't fit inside this tube.
I should be able to finish tomorrow night, I hope.

Maybe if I sell enough of these, I can upgrade to a TIG welder!

Ok, pricing... Considering the time each takes, cost of materials, and tooling, right now I'm looking at $250 each, shipped to the lower 48. I wish I could do it for less, but the 316 stainless is tougher to work with than I imagined. As soon as I get confirmation that the first unit functions as intended, I will start filling orders. I am happy to accept orders now, but no payments until I am ready to ship them.

Here is a shot of my cheapo umbrella setup. Works amazingly well when the sun is straight up and hot. It almost makes the swimdeck feel like a swim up bar!

Awesome! Glad it worked out. I'm finishing up some seat pan kits this week and then will make up a few umbrella adapters after that. Thanks for getting me the feedback! I bought different mig wire and gas so that the welds flow out a little better in the 316 than the prototype.

Slide, are umbrella shafts a standard size, or is there a certain umbrella that your piece is made for?
I would like one, just not sure what umbrella to buy.

Tusc you'll love it! I can't buy a "slide pole" because mine is a little different design, but his looks soo much better than my redneck version. But it works!

Just has to have a diameter of 1.375 rather than the more common 1.5

Oh yeah YT, We’ll definitely love it. Its been getting hot as hell, even waaaaay up here where we are not used to 90 degree temps. With the Bimini and umbrella, we should have plenty of coverage to make everyone comfortable.

TR, Is the 1.375 commonly available?
