I had the Merc version of this motor in my 2003 240. Same 320 HP. It's basically the same style and size of boat. I would say you're perfectly fine.

I bought a 2002 246 with similar hours (300) in 2018. $27k with trailer.

Similar condition. Everything was original and clean. It's a great boat- a ton of room, and rides well.

Here's what I replaced in the first three years: A repeat of most of the posts above.

Bellows, Gimble bearing, and U-Joint straight away. - $2100
Fuel pump - You will hear this issue before it becomes a problem - $475
Plugs and wires - $175
Tach had to be sent to Faria- $ 100.
Blower - started squealing - $75
Outdrive resealed -$1500
Trim cylinder sealed - $700
Trim motor - $150
Check the trailer tires! Look for a date or cracking. Goodyears are going to run you $1200.
Needs throttle cables - $???

I would say it's been the best-looking boat we've had, but not the most exciting performance. Wish I had the 8.1.
