So, Cobalt has posted a short video of the R6 OB on Youtube (those who have signed up for the the reveal would have gotten an email this morning). Can't tell what outboard is on it though. The Cobalt design site isn't up yet.

Ya I saw that too this morning BR99. It's a feel good video. Typical marketing stuff designed for emotion and not information.
(swim platform looked decent with the OB though)

I liked the part when they were fishing off the back.

I'm not sure I understand this product over than it works well in shallow water where pulling the lower unit completely out of the water is advantageous, as well as salt water operation. Otherwise, I'm lost. The biggest surprise, is that the walk through is on the centreline and with the side benches, I don't see how more than one person sits comfortably on each back bench side - facing forward. At least with an L shape on the stern drive you get 3 across the port side rear bench. A lot of fishing and camping pictures, not so much with water sports though. For my purposes, I think I'd stick with a stern drive.

I have the same thoughts for my fresh water uses. I can see the benefits for our salt-watering friends.

So my lake doesn't freeze and we get some nice warm(mid 60s-70) days in nov, dec, Feb, and March. So the draw to me is outboards do not require winterization like a typical stern drive does. Plus the R6 has the cockpit heater again. So to me this is an advantage. I know my R7 has the quick drain VP motor but it is still enough of a pain to winterize as I still run antifreeze through the exchanger. So I could easily get 15 more boating days a year going to an outboard. I do not love it enough to go trade my R7. But who knows maybe when they refresh the R30 to the new series and offer outboards that may be my next one.

Not living near salt water, I'll keep my I/O. One of the main reasons we love the R series, is the staging and lounging area in the back of the boat.
I would think if I were trying to reach the ocean market, I'd have a model the could take 2-3 engines.

Did you happen to notice where they shot those promo’s? Yep that’s table rock lake. I even saw my condo complex in one of them.

I saw a condo complex but didn’t realize it was yours.
