If you want to upgrade your defense against laser detection look into ALP Jammers... pricey, but really best defense against laser. My next car will get ALP's... not investing ALP $$ into a 12 year old car with 180k miles.

I used Escort for years in the 90's until laser became widely adopted. In those days you could pretty easily avoid K band and Ka band radar enforcement and "beating the system" made the trip to the lake fun. In my opinion, since the introduction of laser enforcement, the detector companies have done a good job of trying to make people feel protected even when faced by laser enforcement (and keep their sales up), but Car & Driver and others concluded they don't offer much protection.

These days, I don't speed much. In fact, all things considered, maybe BB is right - the best place to go fast is on a wide open lake with the wind in your hair. No radar out there (at least not where I boat).

I have had passport and escort but 12 years ago made the jump to the Valentine! Definitely the best! Love the way I can upgrade it for the fraction of the cost of a new one. The guy who started Valentine was the original founder of Cincinnati Microwave (that is who made the first escort and passports for you young’ in’s).

Well, I went with the Max360c. Pretty good filtering....I'd say it locked out 98% of the BSM. Very good detection range. Would I like the extra 300-400 ft of the R7, yes, but at 80-85, that number is pretty much meaningless. I used in conjuction with Waze on a recent trip and I'm sorry, I still don't get Waze. Sure it alerted me of police, but never more that 500 ft before I was on them. I know it's cloud based and dependent on users, but it just doesn't do anything for me.

Funny S5533. It's the opposite for me. Waze has saved me more times than I can count. It's been over 10-12 years without a speeding ticket. Ditched our radar detector and jammer (installed in an BMW M5) many years ago.

Of course we live in a more dense area and the police are not allowed to shoot their radar while driving toward you here in PA.

No rolling radar? I’ve never heard of that. Definitely a game changer. I can see how Waze might be more useful for stationary speed traps only.

Waze and a Valentine.

We purchased Escort because of the price. Working well for us. Trip to lake as gone from 3 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes.
No tickets yet. Arkansas HP doesn't have laser in our area, apparently.

I have a R7 in my x5m. ITS AMAZING!!!!!!! I speed if complete diplomatic immunity lol. BUY IT!

I'm starting to get more false readings from other cars with the self driving options. I followed a Honda Passport on the interstate one day to check it out...every time I got within 30 feet or so from him, radar went off with K reading. I've also noticed it going off when passing some newer, nicer cars. Luckily, where I drive, most of the police are using Ka, so that helps keep it effective. Three seasons with radar and no tickets. Radar puts us on the water 30 minutes earlier, and we stay 30 minutes later.

Have two cordless Escort detectors that have worked for me for many years. Now use Waze in combo and they work well together. In the past I had a Uniden Bearcat scanner which was pre-programmed by state - could even pick up the highway patrol airplane frequencies and hear them calling out vehicles to the troopers on the ground. Digital radios made it obsolete. These days have slowed way down but still don't take a trip without the Escort and Waze running on my nav screen.

It's the blind spot monitoring system that is setting off the k band and Honda/Acura are some of the toughest to filter out. Most other manufacturers will get filtered but no those--no clue why. I've tried to use Waze more and more, but so far, it hasn't really added much. It has to be the user base. When I logged in last time it told me "42 Waze users around me".... Plus, when I do get an alert, it's usually too close to be useful.

Around here, state police are still very active with KA. I was literally pinned behind a state trooper earlier this summer who had the cruise set on exactly the speed limit on a 4-lane highway literally 30 miles from anything--funny thing is it's the same guy/car every weekend on the same road. He began shooting oncoming traffic while rolling and finally, he got his prey after 32 instant on shoots in about 5 miles(I counted based on radar hits) and did the through median flip. He was shooting literally every vehicle from cars, to trucks pulling trailers to 26ft delivery vans..... Persistence is key I guess.

I purchased the ESCORT Redline 360c. It is scheduled to arrive next week. I will let you know my experience once I have had it long enough to do so.

A Valentine 1 in each Jeep GC, with the remote displays discreetly installed just above the steering column and the main units obscured by the window tint at the top of the windshield. I could buy several new v2 units with the money they have saved us in the first couple months. We also have run Waze since '17, and highly recommend it. The only downside to Waze in the TRL area, is only the tourists seem to use it.
