If it’s an OceanX package on a VP, it’s basically enhanced internal sensor protection. Inside of the outdrive there are added sensors which will send a signal if water intrudes into the outdrive, alerting the owner of a pending issue. The outdrive paint is also more resistant to salt water degradation.
I am assuming Merc’s Seacore is similar.
As Matt discovered, there is also a Cobalt enhancement of a better grade of stainless.
