Wow, what a view!

Can you get to the island in the winter?

Yes, but only after lake freezes over. They plow winter roads for ice fishing, snow machines, etc. Too cold for us, and no running water (can you say outhouse only) but we do go up for a short stay every other winter or so. Here is the contrast for us....

You have a boat?
Sorry I was immersed in your island and lifestyle. I imagine you researched all the needs over wants , and it appears you picked a special Combo. Looking forward to seeing more.
Welcome from California!

Amazing view and home!! I love Lake of The Woods and spent a week or two fishing there or in the BWCA each summer as a kid back in the 70’s and early 80’s. Our lake home is 190 miles almost due south of you on Gull Lake near Nisswa, MN. Hard to beat lake living in N. Minnesota/Ontario this time of year!! Sunrise from our home a week or so ago....

I saw the top picture and thought to myself the plow did a poor job and how will he get his car out. Then I realized it was a boat house...

Beautiful shot!! Can not get enough of those....hope I have about 10,000 or so left in me. The topography looks very similar. I will be driving up from Florida end of June, crossing over at Fort Francis on way to Kenora, Ontario....I'll honk at 'cha.

Well I'm into week two of ownership....loving it. Need to figure out better dock protection (and skills) to avoid more rubber scars from the dock corner bumpers. It seems the old sun baked ones just smear themselves on the boat, but otherwise am loving it. Took a maiden trip 90 minutes (each way) down the lake to an old camp lodge a friend owns. Thank God for Garmin. We have 5 hours on now. She ran great, 8 adults cruised right along, but avoided constant speeds and only pinned it once (had too!!) Only problems is stereo crapped out, so have appt to get swapped for new.

hope all had a great 4th weekend!!

That is an absolutely gorgeous setting. Except everyone is bundled up. Not so sure about that part...

Looks beautiful out there on LOTW (and your boat looks great too!). I think we got our boats within a day of each other. I love my R3, but I'd rather be on LOTW than Lake Winnipeg. :)

I'm with you on the bundled up part! Looks like March boating on Lake Hartwell. :D
