A for effort, but I really needed that tape measure next to the threads on the bottom.

To get the correct size....at this point, you might have to buy an R series boat 😢

Hello All -

My original drawing implied the bolt length at .5"

There are 6 threads showing spaced at about 2mm each.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Tbully - the thread spacing and your photos suggest a 1/2-13 bolt size, but I guess I was just hoping for some confirmation before I finish one up - but it seems I may not get that.

First one *should* be done tomorrow night. I'll need a volunteer buyer for the first one to make sure it works.. I'll discount it for the potential troubles of needing to ship it back to me if it doesn't work. Stay tuned.

Ha! I almost stopped by East Coast Flightcraft this weekend *just* to measure this thread. Seems like it might not have been a silly idea afterall. ;-)

Remember the actual length of the bolt may be a bit longer. It looks like they welded the bolt to a washer and then welded the washer to the pipe. So you will want to figure in your washer depth.

I bought one of these to try this weekend. $17bucks on clearance at WallyWorld! If it only works once and I throw it in the dumpster it'll be worth it!

Then I'll buy that boat at a discounted price. Lol

Make sure it has the 430. But by the way this thread is going it will be a 250.lol

Just an update that it's going to be a little longer than I wanted to get the first proto out. My larger diameter live center and the roller style fixed steady rest I ordered were both backlogged so they didn't show up when I thought they would. And then I got stung by a bee on Monday and my hand/forearm swelled up like a balloon. I took a crack at some of the lathe work last night and found that without the large diameter live center I'll need to also break out the follow rest to avoid some chatter that I'm getting. I've never tried to precision machine a tube this long on my lathe (a 12x36 gearhead for the hobbyists out there) so I'm on a little learning curve and I apologize for the delays.
