So helped higginspa this wknd cutting holes in his new boat. I think the wire harness for the back speakers is just that a wire harness and not hooked up to anything as BBP stated. Trying to convince him to get an amp at least for the two back speakers my question is how hard to run the power wires and speaker wires along with connections to the head unit. Not sure enough space where it is mounted now and would put the amp in the forward storage space stbd.

You could add a jl 8 channel amp and call it good. I don't know how easy it will be to run wires in that boat. 2 people prob not too hard. You have to remove speakers or cup holders to get to the harness retainer. It can be done but it will take work.

Thank you for all the help. Going to just run off front speakers for now and add 8 channel amp in fall. Spent time running chase lines to make things easier in the fall.(Had no speaker wire). Got it all ready added swim pad, put it in the water and have an overheating issue. Back to the dealer. At least it floats!

Looks great. Sorry about the overheating issue. That should be closed cooling. Make sure the water intake was clear? Can you run it with a hose in the driveway. See if you have good water flow out the drive?

Dealer sent tech in AM. could not figure it out. They picked up the boat 8 pm last night and brought it back. 2 hours travel up and back. Pretty confident they will take care of it. In past I have dealt with dealers who probably would not have done the same. Thanks again for all the advice

So I am wanting to run two Rockford tower speakers. My question is, should I buy one two channel amp that will be dedicated to the tower speakers, then later add a six channel amp that I can tie the interior speakers to?

Here are is the amp.

No sir it does not. I just have the standard sound with the Rockford Fosgates. Also glad to hear you like them. They are continuously sold out of that model, and was I excited to see that they had them back in stock.

I was actually reading back a few pages and saw a JL 8 channel amp. Would it be possible to run my whole system off of that amp, but put a knob to just control the volume on the tower speakers?

I am no expert but I would think yes. See if your head unit has zone control. You could put towers on one zone and the others on zone b. My installer used the fader to control the tower speakers separately

That fader is also what I was wanting to use, but didn't know if you could designate just one channel for that fader.

The tower was prewired...I just used that. If you have factory tower it should be prewired too. Pop off caps and look for wires if you can.

Yes I do have the stock tower. What kind of amps did you go with to power those?

I went with a 4 ch Rockford amp. Went with a 4 vs 2 channel version so if I ever rewire what the factory did with the original amp. I think they put 6 speakers on the 4 channel amp
