I have a 2019 R7 with vp 380. Same thing, blinking red dash because of over tacking. At 6000 with F5s I was running 48mph. When I made the switch to F6 prop set my rpms dropped to 5950. speed increase was to 52. Dealer made the change no charge. Dealer was concerned about hole shot until we went out on the lake to test. To say the least it put a smile on our faces and the expression "Really" maybe if your running 14 people against a tide you'd need the F5s but for me and mine pulling the grandchildren. My choice was justifiable.

there are many factors in play here. Weather, elevation, load in the boat. Spring time my 2019 R7 VP380 with F6's would hit 6100rpms and about 52mph. Now that it is summer where it is normally 90+ with 40-60% humidity I am lucky to see 5900rpms and 50mph. I think Cobalt does their best on picking out the proper gear and prop set. But obviously different areas see different results.

Old story Slide..I ordered it as a 380. It was one of the very first 6.2s installed. Engine tag said 430, block mounted emission sticker said 320k/430. VP USA said it was a 430. Engine download sticker says 380. Propped with a F5.
Who knows, but my guess is the download tag must be correct, but it does redline way too easy.

Also, the ECU is locked.

The question is, when you sell it what engine do you list

Old story Slide..I ordered it as a 380. It was one of the very first 6.2s installed. Engine tag said 430, block mounted emission sticker said 320k/430. VP USA said it was a 430. Engine download sticker says 380. Propped with a F5.
Who knows, but my guess is the download tag must be correct, but it does redline way too easy.

Also, the ECU is locked.

The question is, when you sell it what engine do you list

It's got a 430 engine cover so that's a simple answer and a $11000.00 answer.

They looked real good. My dealer thought they did have some work done due to some thickness on the main prop, but if it did, they did a good job. I'm thinking this was the right prop from the get-go. We'll see on Sunday.

Honestly Matt, if I had to reorder again, I would go with the big block. The VP may be superior in technology and efficiency yada yada, but I freaking hate listening to the RPM so high at 25 MPH. A CC on this thing would sound like a rice burner.

If there ever is another boat, I would trade it back into my current dealer for something with twins. Right now, I don't see that happening. It's the perfect size for us.

It’s not the noise, with it punched along with high compression pistons and a high lift cam, my Harley makes enough noise to wake the dead. It’s the unnecessary RPM I’m whining about.

I get it. Cobalt has to choose the middle of the road when it comes to gearing this thing. The R7 can carry a lot of people, and Cobalt has to consider potential weight. But, for 6 or less people and full tanks, it’s well over propped for our use. I’m a little surprised that this engine isn’t cammed to where the torque curve isn’t at its highest at WOT.

Ah I think it’s your props then. 25mph for me is about 3300rpms. It’s not loud to me until you get to 4500rpms. I usually cruise around at 3800 which will get me 30-32mph depending on load and wind direction.

4500 rpms I’m doing 40mph
