After this 10 min wide open 51MPH run I found out I needed a Smirek drive shower (drive lube got too hot and worked its way past the cap).



My son helped me add the flag pole kit (a must have IMO).

Yep drive shower on a merc is a must. Where did you get the flag kit from?

I ordered the flag pole kit from Cobalt via a regional dealer. If I recall, it was close to $350, but it is very well made and came with a sewn flag. It was straight forward to install, but drilling into the top deck was not a "natural" feeling. I had to have my son (then 10) hold the backing plate in place, as I could not contort myself into that tight space. IMO the flag really looks sharp - I always fly it.

Yes I have the flag and pole just no mount that's why I asked. They get gold for them and you can't buy the base by itself. So I was hoping you found the secret place. I'm going to get this for the tower and mount my flag up there.That way it's out of the way from getting in and out of the boat. This way it can hold my skier down and American flag.

Look in the for sale section within this forum - I seem to remember an ex Cobalt dealer trying to sell a kit. Just make sure its the real deal. My flag pole has a twist and lock spring loaded base. Note to not let the GF install the flag post unless they know the twist and lock part. I almost lost the pole when she tried to help out. Ha, ha.

Haha, the flag kit was the only option I could get the factory to toss in my deal...
As far as letting your gf do the twist and lock thing, my wife twisted and locked the night stern light on our old chap to the point where she broke the mount...

Yes my light twists and locks too. Yes every boat I have bought lately has had a stern light plug broken.lol I guess too many GF installing them.

Ok just about have the boat water ready. I have side lights on the rear side of the trailer and one didn't work so I replaced them with led. They don't do much but will help seeing the rear of the boat at night backing in. Also my 8.1 have a whistle at certain rpms. Didn't bother me but other people hear it so I caught this deflector on ebay this winter. Can't buy it from the dealer 7 year rule and it's not made by Volvo. I don't care if it works I like the looks of it. I think Cobalt added it in 2010.
