How to remove pop up ski pylon?

I apologize in advance if this has been covered before, but I've searched the archives and have come up empty. I've got a 2007 272 with a pop up/ recessed ski pylon that I would like to be able to remove to throw an umbrella in the hole. The pylon pops up and twists and locks into place just fine, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to remove it from the hole. Am I missing a trick, or is my particular pylon not designed to remove (at least not easily)?

If anyone can advise me on how to get this thing outa there, I'd appreciate it!
