Hey TM2994. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Nice 262 you got there. The tinted windshield has a certain cool factor.

A technician will be able to pinpoint your issue after reading the ECM codes. Otherwise you’ll run the risk of going down further rabbit holes. Where is your nearest Merc/VP tech? You’ll want to get on the service schedule ASAP due to demand.

Let’s get your 262 healthy again with a proper diagnosis.

Again welcome aboard mate!

I fought a similar issue all last summer, turns out the problem was a plugged fuel injector. It was spaying a solid stream rather than a mist. After some research I found that it is a GM injector and I purchased one from the auto parts store for much less than the one from Volvo.

The injector was only part of the problem. I found that my fuel line was deteriorating from the inside causing small pieces of rubber hose to cause problems with my fuel system. The fuel line was not as hard of a project as I had thought, didn't even have to drain the fuel tank. Remove the access panel under the rear step and use the old hose to pull the new one through the firewall.

Keep an eye on your oil, mine was overfull and had a strong gas smell.

The last time I had it on the water last fall I used a fuel pressure gauge, I was looking for a constant pressure (about 45 psi) from idle to WOT. Standard yearly maintenance this spring, plugs and filters ect... only been out once but it seems better.

Hope this helps.

Bought mine the first of August last summer. It ran perfect on the hose. On the water it had no power. Took forever to get on plane.

There is no Volvo dealer near me

Each week I changed something after consulting boat and Chevy mechanics.
1 both fuel pumps and pumped out the tank
2 removed injectors and had them serviced
3 5th mechanic told me to change the plugs. If it had run bad on the hose I would have done this first 🤦‍♂️ New plugs cured my problem and I was amazed how sporty such a big boat could be!

Then in October the flapper on my captains call came loose and lodged in the clamshell thing at the transom. I pulled that riser and manifold to remove the cc. I ended up removing both sides to inspect riser and manifolds.

Next time out it seemed down on power. Not sporty however we had a load in it. 6 adults and full tank of gas. But to my ear it sounds like it’s missing on one cylinder.

I changed plugs and wires last week. We had 10 plus full tank. It ran ok but still sounds like it’s missing.

I’m leaning towards coil failing under load. I’m not about to change them all so at this point I’m going to buy 1 and start swapping it around.

I have changed my filter and cut the old one open. I don’t think trash is a problem.

im not getting good spark on 2 packs. i pulled the plug wired after replacing the plugs and wires. on 2 cylinders it didnt effect the motor at all. all the other ones when i unplugged the coil wire it lost lots of power till i plugged it back in. that could that be. i replaced the 2 bad coils and it helped a little but still no power till it plains. then it will run 45 which before it would run 64

I used my timing light to verify all 8 are firing at idle.

I bought one coil and will (Saturday) swap it around hoping to find a bad one under load.

Coil packs are all over the place price wise. $75 for 8 up to $125 each. I decided not to have the guy test them.

Worst case I’m thinking now about pulling all the crap off it and going with a aftermarket ignition and fuel injection.
