Just spoke with Rick at Cobalt. There is a new part that has a larger diameter rod (the weak link). The part is about $250. To "adapt" the new part one just needs to enlarge the connecting rod hole with the appropriate sized drill bit. Seems easy enough. I am waiting to heard back from the friendly parts department at Sport Shop Ltd in NC to see if the have the part (they might), or how soon they can get it to me. Will the right part, seems like it may be a easy fix. Woooo hooo!

242 has 320 HP with EVC.

New part to be installed at Gordys, hopefully this week.

Thanks for the pic. Per Rick, I see the main shaft is larger, but the bullet tip in the new example above looks square vs rounded. Odd.
I didn't hear anything about shipping today... I asked for next day air b/c I want to be able to use the step this weekend.

Just installed the new swim step deployment pin. The part I received had the same bullet shape and the older pic, but the rod was about twice the diameter. The rod and bullet are welded together, and the other end of the rod is threaded - which screws into the round knob. I used a drill bit to enlarge the hold in the swim step hardware and used high strength loc-tite when attaching the know to the bar. Very easy to do - took less than 5 minutes. So, I'll be on the lake Saturday!

That part was also broken yesterday on my 2011 200 while attempting to raise the step to get back to my rack storage facility. Luckily, I was able to unlatch the step by pushing my finger into the hole to raise the step. Not sure what I would have done if I could not have raised it. Now I also need to replace it. Thanks for all the information.

Hi - I know this is in old post... but, having the same issue here. Got my 2013 336 last month with a bolt in place of where the plunger/release is supposed to be. Called Cobalt, referred me to a local dealer - but did give me a part number - 404722. Waiting for call back from local dealer.

Hey rh223....welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Thanks for your update as well. Glad to hear Cobalt is working on conquering this challenge. Hopefully this simmer will be platform problem free. One of our members had theirs break three times.

Any pics of your 336?

Check out this similar topic R35 platform thread.

Again welcome aboard mate!

Glad they directed you to a dealer.

The boat is kept on a lift, I'll send pictures of the broken piece. They recommended I call Marine Connection. Turns out that Cobalt covered the replacement part 100% - no charge!

I also have the same issue but I was able to save the knob. That does me no good though cause I have to purchase the full pin anyhow from what I understand. On that note, does anybody have a good Cobalt dealer they use? I've gone through Marine Connection in Florida and Strongs Marine in NY and both have horrible service. I have a few parts I'm trying to buy like this swim platform pin, a new tachometer, and a windlass anchor motor and I can't even get a return call from their service department. When I finally get a hold of somebody at either of these locations, they tell me they will call me right back with pricing and I never hear from them again. I get that they are all extremely busy now with everybody boating but its been 3 weeks since the Strongs Marine guy said he would call me back and I can't even get him on the phone. If anybody has any good dealers that they enjoy working with will be appreciated.
