Hello All. Here’s the newest addition to our family, a bouncing baby 2020 220S. Mercruiser 300HP, quiet, smooth and tops out at 55 according to the Garmin GPS. No trouble doing 51 with 3 people and a half tank of fuel.

We love it but we’ve also had our fair share of teething problems. Some days I think it missed Final Quality Control completely.

Her home is on the North Lake Chain in Coldwater, Mi.

Congrats on your new baby. She looks peaceful sleeping there in the lake. Those are some nice top end speeds and 300HP sounds like a small block pushing her so I'm sure she jumps up on plane in no time.

Growing pains with quality control seems to rear it's ugly head at times with the latest models. Sorry to hear about your Bravo III galvanic issue. Do you keep her slipped? Who is around you creating all that electrolysis?

Thanks again, I'm glad to have found a new boating family.

She's on a vertically-challenged lift, with her skeg and inboard prop submerged most of the time. No other boats within 50 yds. Same lift, same place as the 35 yr old Cheetah with a pristine Alpha I drive showing no signs of corrosion and the same anodes she came with new!! Very strange!

Welcome aboard. My wife secretly wants a yellow boat. It looks pretty cool. Very odd that you’re having metallic corrosion. The lower unit is aluminum and the prop is stainless, it’s likely a stray current. I had a similar problem on a (salty) boat in Clearwater, FL; we started burning through zincs like crazy. It was a nightmare figuring out what the problem was, and we never confirmed how is was resolved. After having an electrician go through the boat and all shore power, it stopped. You might start by unplugging the lift and confirming the battery Is switched off. Good luck running that issue down.

At one of our marinas someone actually dropped a battery in the water and you couldn't see it. Not sure how they found it but they did.

Oh boy .... That will do it. In freshwater, there isn’t a lot you can do except track it down; I don’t think zincs work. Maybe there’s something else he can drop in the water to sacrifice other than his lower unit. Alternately, raise the bunks on the lift enough to get her out of the water; that might be his first and cheapest option.

I agree raise the lift and get it out of the water. Get someone to test your water for stray current.
