What oil does everyone use in their 8.1 Volvo?

If I remember correctly it is important to match the mfg recommend viscosity and API Requirements. IE: 20w-40w semi synthetic. Design for marine environments for moisture and oxidation.

Your engine cover or cap (if no manual was supplied) will give you that "year" recommended type.

I use the same oil the 240 uses. If it's good enough for the 240 it has to be good enough for the 8.1.

I was clueless too so I went with what I ran in My last Chevy powered boat. Rotella T 10w-30.

And recently I noticed the oil fill cap Says 30wt synthetic. Guess I will change it soon.

This is what I'm finding in the user's manual.
It's asking for syn oil.

Most will. I use a washer hose on mine. Works great.
