Teak removal questions - 2003 262

I’d love to hear how yours has held up since installing. I’ve been looking at options for the exact same setup as you have for my 2004 262. I’m in the same “boat”, pun intended, in that my carpet is good, but no matting on either swim deck or the walkthrough, and the factory texture is getting worn and slick. Had several people slip on it this season so I’ve got to get something put down. I priced the same setup from Swimdek, and they are very comparable to Aquamarine in price. I’m curious to hear how it held up for you this season. Swimdek can’t do the logo and I really want the logo. My main concern is the extended deck being in the mater so much and the logo giving even more areas where the matting can wear or start peeling on the top layer. I know this stuff is designed for marine environments, but being fully submerged regularly is different than just getting wet.

Ha! Yeah well, originally I was just going to replace the extended deck to get rid of that M. But see how washed out grey looks? Theres no comparison to me, but that's just me. Lots of folks like grey, and on the right boat I think it looks good. But I wanted to swap it all out, so I went through the ordeal of peeling that crap off. And it's not fun! Doable, but not fun.

That's Good looking right there. Where did you get it from and did you do it all yourself? Did you do the entire boat or just the back end? Any install tips

I ordered from aquamarine. This time of year it seems like they're little cheaper than they are in the spring. And it's super super easy to install.

Tape half of it into place. Lift the other half and peel off the backing. Stick it down, now lift the other side and peel it off. You're done!

For the past two seasons it's done great! When underway and plowing along before getting up on plane my rear deck is pretty much under water. I did have the center piece come loose and peel up for a few inches, so I let it dry completely, then did a thorough cleaning. Then I used commercial grade 3M adhesive on both the pad and the deck, let it dry to touch and stuck it down. That was early in the summer and I haven't had a problem since.

My boat stays on a covered slip all summer, and I leave the mooring cover on, even at night over the weekend, mainly to keep spider crap off. At home it sits outside with the mooring cover on, and it includes the swim deck.

Go for it! Especially if you have slippage going on. That will stop!

Great info! Thank you. I just heard back from them on pricing and they are planning on running a sale for Black Friday. I was going to wait until next Feb or March since the season is over, but I’m going jump on it now for a good deal.
