@BobRae99, i know this is an old post, but did Cobalt send you the pic of where to drill? Not a hypothetical question unfortunately...
Another phone gets the Cobalt bite
Sorry to hear.

They didn't, but were suggesting a drill a 6" hole through the ski locker wall into the space under the co pilot's seat. I determined immediately that I didn't want to do that. If you look through this thread you'll see pictures of how I accessed the area and retrieved the iPhone. I also determined that the 6" hole would not have given me enough access to locate and retrieve the phone and I'm glad I didn't follow Cobalt's advice. Which model boat swallowed yours?

I’m sorry to hear another phone got lost, but this thread is exactly what I needed to see for another reason. Unfortunately the cooler located under the seat on my new R3 came loose on one side and needs reattached. I was wondering how to access it. I think this might help. The dealer said they would fix it no problem I just hate to take it in and potentially miss boating time. Here is a pic. I don’t mean to hijack a thread just thought it might be beneficial to show.
Side note my cooler is not insulted like the one in the picture appears to be.... hmmmmm
The pic is upside down. How do I fix this?

Odd that there is no insulation if this is the co pilot seat pictured. In any event, I'm sure the dealer will have it fixed with you back on the water in a day.

I made a trip down to the boat today and was able to easily remove the panel as pictured in this thread to access the cooler from below. I was pleased to find that the cooler is insulated! I was able to reinstall a couple of screws and support the cooler from below so I can use it until I take it in for proper repair. I am thankful for the forum.
R3 Surf. Was able to use BobRae99 photos to access and rescue! Thanks. Took some ‘MacGyvering’. Had to use marshmellow roaster sticks from the notorious gap above to push the phone under the cooler, then another with a wad of duck tape to grab it from below after removing access panel. No drilling.
I did lay a piece of boat carpet under there to catch it (and be able to drag it out) next time before i replaced the panel.

Really glad i found this forum and this thread in particular. My iPhone slid into the bracket slot like it was made for that action yesterday. Very annoying to say the least. Was able to access via the battery compartment mentioned here and with the help of a smaller, more limber person, grab the phone from the corner of the compartment. Thanks for the info!

Glad we could help! I went head first into the lazaret the first time and had difficulty getting out from the deep space. the second time a phone went town the slot, I removed the carpet panel and sent my 10 year old down for it.

I was out on Lake Chelan in our 2017 SC25 and my son dropped his phone in the passenger seat slot for the backrest. We took our the wall in front of the compartment with the power switch and still couldn’t get to it. Looks like my boy is getting a new I-phone... lame design.

Hey OBC Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Sorry to hear about the phone loss. Did you try calling it while searching ? Maybe you’ll be able to zero in on the sound. I still think you can retrieve it with a little effort. You’re right though..lame design.
Any pics of your Cobalt?
Again welcome aboard mate!
