06 282 Head Question
Had a great first weekend with my NTM 2006 Cobalt 282. Cruised around the Tennessee River and up the French Broad.
I had a question regarding the Sanipottie head that came with the boat. It appears the hoses are ran to the toilet but not installed - is fixing this as simple as hooking the water hose to the water tank and the waste line to the waste tank? I presume these were uninstalled during winterization and just not reinstalled. Any guidance would be helpful, I was unable to find much online (e.g. no helpful YouTube videos or articles).

.
You got it my friend. It was just never hooked back up after the porta potty was replaced or during the winterizaion process.

Re: 06 282 Head Question
Hey welcome !
I'm pretty sure looked at your boat when it was still at the dealer in Knoxville. Nice boat. I'm on the same river, just a couple dams down from ya!
Your 18 gallon fresh water tank isn't plumbed to the potti. You fill up the porta potti with about 2 gallons of freshwater from the cap as shown in photo #2.
https://www.defender.com/pdf/500255.pdf
The small hose is the vent to vent odors. The large hose is connected to the pump out (this way the pump hose stays off the boat and you can bump from the port side bow.
I have a 282 with a similar set up... here is what Cobalt told me...
"What you have on your boat is the pump out head option. There is no extra waste holding tank. The tank is part of the porta potti. The pump out hose is the larger hose and goes to a fitting that is marked waste on the bow or under anchor locker".

That's exactly how ours is plumbed on our 263 FH. (although our waste access pump-out location is on the side of the boat). Great explanation and thanks for the porta pottie link.

Re: 06 282 Head Question
My waste pump out fitting is on port side about 6-8 feet back from bow.
Fuel is aft starboard and fresh water is aft port.

Re: 06 282 Head Question
Hey! Where do you keep your boat? Tellico used to be my home base but now I live in downtown so I’m closer to there. Great to meet a fellow East Tennessean (or TN riverer), either way! I picked this one up at American Boat Center, I’ve worked with them for years having worked in the wakeboarding industry. Was very excited to see this boat and that it was still available. Do you mind me asking what turned you off to it?FHAREN wrote: Mon Jun 15, 2020 12:16 pm Hey welcome !

This is extremely helpful, thanks so much! So where does the vent hose go on the toilet? The waste hose I presume connects to the lower tank? I’m trying to visualize based on the photos I’ve taken exactly what I need to have them do with the hose. They are taking the boat out of the water tomorrow to address a handful of things, and this will help me make sure I understand the whole process should they reach out to me with a “no clue man.”

Re: 06 282 Head Question
Let me ask one more question: if the waste pump out on the side connects directly to the sanipottie (if I’m understanding y’all correctly), where does spent sink water go? To the bilge? I presumed it went to the same waste tank the toilet would have gone to.
Re: 06 282 Head Question
Nice boat.
I found a twin engine 282 at Travis marine that my wife liked better ! We keep it on Chickamauga.
Vent hose goes up thru boat and should vent right below the waste pump out. There should be a stainless fitting about 6” below the pump out that is about the size of 5 quarters stacked on top of themselves. See first picture below.
Ok the toilet side it connects to as shown in the picture below. This is the only one I could find. Might be back on boat later today / tomorrow if additional pictures are needed.
Both sinks run out overboard thru drain fittings in the side
My head sink drains port and my “galley” sink in Cockpit drains starboard - fitting on starboard is right beside the 2 bilge pump fittings. See starboard picture below.
Let me know if you end up putting a swim platform on her - my boat also didn’t have one from factory. Also you have highly desirable aft filler cushions.

Re: 06 282 Head Question
Thanks for the photos FHAREN! I went out to my boat yesterday and it doesn’t appear, unless I’m misinterpreting your photos, that the lower basin of my toilet has the fittings for those hoses. Maybe someone replaced the bottom basin with the wrong one, am I missing something? This piece is removable so I imagine it’d be an easy replacement, but where do I find the replacement with both the vent and waste fittings? Thanks for the help.

You currently have the portable Sanipottie model with no hookups in your boat.
The Sanipottie 964MSD model with 2.5 gallon holding capacity is the one you need for your application iw if you wish to use the pumpout hose and vent. You may be able to find just the bottom piece somewhere but purchasing the entire model may be your only option.
