Tell that to your tower. Too soon?
Oh ouch. Yes you can't have your tower up in the garage. That doesn't work.
I don't see a problem :D

Jackbfree wrote: Sun May 24, 2020 12:59 pm Thanks for the tip. (Un)Fortunately, this boat doesn't have a tower. I've contacted Sampson about an OEM tower quote. Probably getting ahead of myself but hey, why not?
Maybe I could mount the depth finder inverted on top of the tower๐Ÿค”.
Haven't seen any threads on that "upgrade" but maybe BBP could start one?
Also, I noticed a rank increase to Lieutenant. Not sure I can take off the Ensign "butter bar" until I at least have a boat.
Well it's a good thought but no there will not be a thread from me with a Garmin having from the tower ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ—ผ

I am thinking of searching for my used r3 Dreamsicle with a 430 in her. So I think I might put mine up for sale. The search is on ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
I still don't know why you didn't make the offer yesterday and bring her home with you. It's priced where it should be.
Well, that's exactly what the bride said! However, the boat hadn't been cleaned/ detailed since it had just come in. One of the trailer tires was flat (might have really old tires) and, I wanted to take it for a spin first. Also, I'm hoping to have the dealer throw in an extra battery w/ a Perko switch. They store their boats in an old tobacco waterhouse (it is NC after all) which was fairly dark. I want to get a good look at her in better light, and finally, we showed up 45 minutes before closing so we ran out of time. Now, if all the preceding excuses don't fly as to why I didn't take her home, there's one more....NERVES MAN!!! It's like the first time a Navy corpsman gave me a cup and said "fill'r up! With someone standing over my shoulder it was a bit nerve wracking๐Ÿ˜ฎ.
I have some optimism that the first two parts of the signature line will change soon. Actually probably all 3 once I finally pull the trigger!!๐Ÿ˜

The SeaDoo just got sold this week, now I can fit the Ram back in there with the boat.
Yes a toy shed would be sweet. But it's also nice having the boat next to me when I wake up every day too.

Hello again CC,
Well, we just submitted an offer on a nice 240 with a 496 merc mag. We'll see how it goes. I would much rather be selling a used boat in this market than trying to buy one. We're 0 for 4 including a nice 246 where the owner just decided she no longer wanted to sell AFTER we made an offer (92% of asking price). We're heading to Tablerock lake next week. Sure love to have a nice Cobalt in tow. Otherwise, it's back to State Park marina for a 220S rental :)

Sounds great. Any 496 is good. What year is she?!loce the color!. Is it a private seller? How long does it take to except a offer? I say yes so let's go.

She's a 2006 from my "local" dealer about an hour away. And yes, I too love the color. Wish she had captain's call but for a used boat, most of the important boxes are checked.
Any thoughts on the 240? Compared to a 246 or 232/242? I've learned a lot about the different Cobalt models in terms of layout but I don't know about how any of them handle or ride relative to other similarly sized models. I've read about one hull being fast, and another has a better ride in the chop. How would the 240 perform compared to those others? ๐Ÿค”

Only thing I don't like about the 240 is no sun pad to lay on. 232 has a faster hull. 240 is a good Cruiser hull. It will handle TRL just fine.

Looking at this engine pic-
Frame arrestor is angled down, cable ties on the coolant reservoir, and some tube or cable coming from under the engine cover. Anyone know what's going on here? Seems an odd time to take a picture if some kind of maintenance was in progress? Is the front edge of the engine cover missing?

When things get bastardized on a boat then those are usually warning signs of other possible issues.

Honestly, in your picture the flame arrestor can easily be turned to the horizontal position where it is supposed to be (although performance won't be affected at all even when angled.)

The 496 cover being cut looks ugly but it will not affect anything performance related....but again why was it cut?

That cable/tube being fastened to the coolant reservoir won't affect anything but why is it fastened there?...and what is it? Tough to see in that pic.

Danger Wil Robinson. This could be like peeling an onion. The more you peel back, the more you will cry. :(

Thanks A7. Agree with what you said. Nothing necessarily performance impacting but why did it end up like that. Curious about the oil change sticker as well. Without knowing anything about marine engine maintenance schedules, it seems a 2017 oil change is quite a long time ago, even if not used frequently in the last 3 years
