Changes for 2020 models

Anything big? First thing I saw was that it looks like JL Audio is now the standard stereo vs. the Rockford Fosgate. I see a new gray color is added.

The CS series still has a discount, but the prices have gone up on those.. Several thousand compared to last year when I selected the same options vs. the 2019 model.

No built in discount on the R Series. The R3 is a huge jump in price from the CS series. We are talking for a bone stock CS 22 you are mid 50's. For a bone stock R3 it is $100,000+. I guess you negotiate that with your dealer and with the CS it is more like "no haggle".. I love the R3 (and all the R boats)

You should be able to haggle the R series boats down 20-30% depending on your region or dealer. In my now 5 years of following cobalts I have never seen Cobalt discount the R series.

The yearly price increases from Cobalt are dramatic. My exact boat has risen almost 20k from 2017 to 2020.
IMO, you will never see a price decrease or sale on an A or R series. Doing so would kill resale, and as long as the plant is building full tilt, expect the same increases every year.

There have been multiple people with issues with the Rockford fosgate stereo including me. Have they replaced all the RF with JL or just the standard?
Agree you should be able to to get between 20-30% off MSRP, keep that in mind as you add options that they are discounted as well. So engine upgrades for 10k are really only 7-8k.

That is what I figured. I think the 10 series (210,220,CS) they announce the discount the get peeps like me in the family. The higher end they don’t announce and it is on you and market conditions to get the discount. I doubt they discount much off the 10 series already reduced price EXCEPT during the boat show pricing time when they are even cheaper than the current discount price online.

Well I am glad I bought a 19. I just built my exact same boat in a 2020 and it is 8k more MSRP than the boat I bought.

Agree, It is relative, except for the very few who never plan on upgrading. Unless prices rise on new builds, resale goes into the toilet for the rest of us.

I plan on keeping this boat until it is probably worth pennies on the dollar. So to me after discounts that is about 5k less that I had to spend up front. So it is relative to me.

Ha very true A7. I don't see any reason for upgrading. If I go any larger I would want twins and I do not want the cost that comes with twins. So I will be in my R7 for a while. Now if Cobalt would come out with something in the 27ft range with twins. I could see myself running to the dealer.

Price increases are the Malibu way. I used to buy a new malibu every year. After the 3rd one, I just couldn't do it anymore... prices increased steadily
7-9% each year.

The good news in the wakeboat market is, now, since the prices on new ones are insanely high, used prices are going up as well. It really is pretty nice to buy a used boat, keep it a few years and sell it for what you paid for it (possibly a little more).
