Hi from the UK

Post by Trevor UK »

Cobalt boats are rare in the U.K., but when you see one you realise the quality. Just about to order my fist Cobalt, an R3. Trying to get around the EU tariffs of 25% on US boats, that’s why we’re leaving the EU.
Can someone advise if the cockpit table is too big for the R3? I’ve seen some images and it looks like it’s oversized for the boat
Thanks

I have a table in my 220 so I think the r3 will be fine. You can always get a smaller table. But getting the gactory to mount the mount and the table leg is the big part to have.
Welcome also.

Hi Trevor -
In our opinion, the table is tight in our R5. I think there is a smaller round table that might be a good fit for you in an R3. Definitely agree with BBP about getting the dealer to install. The table comes with 2 slide in brackets. One is installed in the back of the boat, but we’ve never used it back there. I’ll post a couple of picks and get a better forward looking pic tomorrow when we head back to the lake.

Welcome Trevor UK. Good luck on your purchase. Sounds like that tariff will be a hard pill to swallow. That would buy a lot of options. Be sure to post pictures. Where will you boat in the UK?

Just for fun, I looked up gas prices in London on a website: https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Unit ... ne_prices/ and it showed the price based on different currencies and measures. Long story short, it showed gas at $5.82 US dollars per gallon. Yikes. I won't bother telling you what I'm paying for gas in Texas.

Dang, that's more than I paid for premium on the water last weekend!

Yeah, fuel is very expensive in the U.K.It will cost about $450 to fill the boat with gas. I’m sure it will be worth it. We have a vacation home on the south coast of the U.K. at a place called Sandbanks. It’s right next to the second biggest natural harbour in the world called Poole harbour, and the place is full of boats. All boating will be in the sea as most boating in the U.K. is on the sea and not on lakes.

Welcome from California / Arizona!

I come over to Manchester (Knutsford actually) occasionally and really enjoy spending time there. Regarding you leaving the EU, we are really worried about shipping issues so we are stocking up on materials we source from the UK. I would imagine others are doing the same and will lead to an economy out of balance moving forward.

Best of luck with your new R3!

Welcome Trevor!

Have you considered the SC series since you will be boating in salt water? Outboards are much easier to take care of in salt water applications.

Hey Trevor UK,
Here are a few more pics at different angles of the table in our R5. Good luck on the boat purchase and with Brexit!
