Tachometer stuck!

Post by Dizel8 »

So apparently I’m always at 1800 RPM even when power is off.

Anything in particular to look for or should I send out for repair and if so, any recommendations?

What brand gauge? Is it Faria? Does it move at all when being tapped?

Mine does the same thing. I'm waiting for boating season to be over to send it in for a refurb.
Mine moves around sometimes with the engine running, but random rpm indication.
I wonder if it would be easier/cheaper to buy a new one?

Before sending it for repair try to move the selector of #cylinders on the back of tachometer. Rotate it few times and back to position you started (according to #cylinders you have in your engine)
That worked on my previous boat tacho. The selector conectors get some oxidation overtime and couse inaccurate readings
