New Member from Atlanta, GA - Lake Lanier
Hello All!
My name is Brian. We just purchased our first Cobalt. 1996 Cobalt 220, VP 5.7Gi-DP.
Thank you all for all of your knowledge I've been soaking up over the past months since deciding we had to have a Cobalt. I have learned so much. The boat is in really good condition. One owner for 22 years, kept in dry stack. Second owner for 1 year, kept here at Lake Lanier. The boat has 438 hours on her when we acquired her and we've already put another 27 hours on her in 3 weeks. We are fortunate to be able to get out to the lake 4 or 5 days a week and are making great use of our purchase. We can be found most days at Marker 21 on Lake Lanier by Athens park. During the week it's pretty quiet but on the weekends our group of friends will have 10 to 20 boats tied up.
I did the steering wheel upgrade that everyone was talking about made such a big difference. Going in for a tune up and getting general maintenance done next week. The mechanic said, "do these things and it will run another 24 years. It's a Cobalt." Made me feel confident in our purchase.

Hey Brian. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Yes, such a wealth of knowledge here. We have all benefited from ownership and passing on what has helped improve our boats.
Thanks for the pics. You’re correct-only three will post at a time....and welcome aboard!

Welcome Brian. Go to sliderules website and order that Cobalt center piece for the steering wheel. Glad ee could help you spend some money. Did you get stainless cup holders yet?

Welcome to the group Brian. We live in Atlanta as well, but have a place on Lake Hartwell. Not as crazy as Lanier. Looks like there is a Cobalt armada in the picture with the other boats. You pick your boat friends wisely!

Welcome!
Slide is the resident super fabricator for cool Cobalt accessories. Here is his website:https://slideruleracing.com/Shop/, but the wheel emblems aren't listed, you'll need to send him an email. Do it soon as I think he only made a limited run of them.
