Frustrating weekend

Post by Eric55AMG »

Started off having an awesome weekend at LOTO with some friends.
Weather was perfect ... Everything went great Friday.
Saturday was a blast pulling the kids on the tube and coving out.

Get done for the day and go to unhook the tube from the tow point, and the damn thing is loose!

Cannot believe it.

The tow point is rated for 1000 lbs, and comes dangerously loose pulling 3 kids, all less than 100 lbs each, around for the day.

I have a "streatch ball" in the middle of the rope too, so it wasn't like it saw any hard jerks.

Worse thing is I have no idea how I'm going to access it to see WHY it's loose, much less to tighten it.

Toe tow point is beyond the transom, on the other side of the rear cooler.

To add insult to injury today ...
We go out to ski, knee board, and wake board from the arch today .... And wind up bending a prop on submerged debris 🤬🤬🤬

I have spare props, so that's just a small pain. In the ass ...
The lower tow point is what has me concerned.

Until I can get a bore scope in there to see what I'm working with next weekend ... My mind is just racing 😢😢😢

You should be able to get back there and tighten the 2 nuts up. I've had some come loose on my other boats.
Sorry about the props that sucks.

Sorry to hear about the props, hate that happened. I've never heard of a stretch ball, what's that?

It's a device that reduces / eliminates the "shock" / jerking between the boat and inflatable.

Unfortunately I had to cut a hole (actually expanded the hole already cut for the transom shower) in order to access the nuts holding the tow point in place.
It was impossible to access from the engine compartment ... Even after I took that heavy ass engine cover off looking for every possible angle.

Much to my surprise, they were not "double nutted", nor was there any thread locker used.
Fortunately, the nuts only backed off, nothing broke.

.
Wow. That’s a lot of work to get at those. Nice job though.

Any pics of the enlarged transom shower cut-out?
