The Jack Daniels Barrel Man

Was returning to Ky. from Orange Beach, AL last week & stopped at a rest area. Started a conversation with a man with a duelie pickup and trailer loaded with barrels of Jack Daniels. Asked if I could talk him out of a barrel, he said no but was a very interesting guy & very proud of his product. He went to his truck, returning with his “business” card made from an actual piece of the charred barrel that they use to age the whiskey. He also included a metal insignia of “Old No 7”. He was in route to a Derby event. Maybe we’ll contact him to come to the next Cobalt Chat event! (Mrs A thinks we’d make better time going somewhere if I talked to less people)

You can buy a barrel of Jack Daniels. believe it was about 7k when I did it a couple of years ago. Really cool experience, you get to go pick out the barrel at lynchburg, aka sample them. Then they bottle them up for you, give you the empty barrel and put your name on a wall in the distiller.

I believe it was ~275 -300 bottles.

I live about 45 minutes from Lynchburg. There is also a lake nearby, Tim's Ford, that would be perfect for your get together

Saw a barrel of Jack Daniels at Costco a couple years ago. It’s not there now, so somebody paid $8k or whatever it was to take it home. An attention-getter for sure, though.
