Just around the corner. Just not sure which corner. Yep just got back in after firing up the snowblower. Almost went through 5 gal of gas this year. Lol
Last year I think I only filled the blower 1 time and that was in April 😂😂😂

Yes...the snow definitely shifted west from where we are (western PA) this past season. It was more of a rain event than snow for us. Midwest and Seattle got slammed. My mailbox is usually 3/4 buried in February. Other than the bitter cold snap, I'll take this winter every year in our area. :P I only had to shovel 7 or 8 times total (vs 15-30 normally  ).

….and to answer you k232a. Like YT said, that's about our only option. ;)

Very interesting about your dad's background too!

A7, what do you make of the Max 8 issues?
After the African incident, what is your confidence level?

That accident is perplexing, T. Still have not seen all the facts. Only preliminary data.

I will say the 34 MAX 8 aircraft we have in the fleet with data programs that constantly monitor and analyze flights do not show any abnormalities. Currently we have more than 41,000 flights worth of MAX 8 aircraft data. Confidence level is still high. Time will tell as more info is gained from the Ethiopian Air black boxes.

With that being said, our thoughts and prayers go out to those families & loved ones affected by the tragic crash of Ethiopian flight 302.

From what I've seen it was immediately after wheels up the pilot called ATC to turn around, then they disappeared from radar...something catastrophic happened, explosion or fire is theory I've read. Hopefully they find the boxes to know for sure...very sad.

Very sad. I don’t claim to know the facts, and I’m only referring to what I see reported, but If it does boil down to the same electronic errors that downed the Lion Airline Max8, where the pilots were again fighting bad info within MCAS, then it’s even more troubling that a solution has not been found.

I’m no expert, in fact, my flight experience is simply buckling in a passenger seat and ordering a drink and thanking the pilots when we leave the plane. Whats very upsetting is that our pilots and passengers who entrust their lives with electronic technology employed by Boeing we’re not fully informed about the new systems on the Max8, and what to do if this issue occurs under their watch.
That is a head scratcher.

A7, I would trust you flying my family around the world. Please stay safe my friend.

Thanks for the vote of confidence T. And yes, my first inclination when I heard about the Ethiopian Air crash was to wonder if this was related in some way to the MCAS which was a factor in the Lion Airline crash.

Too soon to tell.

I will say that when the MCAS was initially installed on the Max 8, Boeing chose not to tell the pilots about it for various reasons. After the Lion Air accident, that changed. In the states, pilots have since received training on what the MCAS does and how to counteract it if the MCAS malfunctions. It's not complicated as long as one is aware of the system and its limitations.

The FAA, Boeing & EASA will be investigating the Ethiopian CVR's & Black Boxes closely to determine if the MCAS was a factor and if the pilot's had training on the system. Preliminary results say Boeing has no plans to issue further guidance.

Now back to our regularly scheduled winter sucks programming. 8-)

It looks like the density altitude was over 10,000 feet. How does the MAX do on single engine climb out? I have not seen any evidence of this, but it sure looks like it didn't climb.

The MAX will climb fine on one engine even at that density altitude k232. However, that could be hampered by other factors such as inoperative flight controls, explosive decompression, compound emergencies, etc.

The worst case scenario for any crew member is some type of uncontrollable fire on the plane (such as Swissair 111) which would require an immediate landing. Any type of explosion which degrades the flight controls is another worst case (such as the United 232 crash. )

Again, it's too early to speculate. Investigators have recovered the black boxes though so some info should be forthcoming shortly.

Investigators are sure busy with this incident and the Atlas Cargo 767.

I remember the Swiss 111 accident. That must have been terrible.

I had to sand and salt my driveway yesterday as this warmer weather and rain has turned it into a sheet of ice. My car slide the last 25 yards down the driveway into the street when I took my daughter to school this morning and I saw 2 car accidents less than 1/2 mile from my house on the way home from dropping her off. Our flight to Florida is 25 hours away and I can’t wait!

Thanks for depressing me this morning bum.
I’d be right there with you, but we have a new manager starting, an insurance job for our wind damage, a Fleetwood Mac concert in a few days and I’m sure something else will happen. I’m hoping for the end of the month, and then again another week at Easter.

Have a Grouper sandwich at Snook Inn for me..😥🤣

The Snook Inn is our favorite destination when we rent a boat out of Naples, but unfortunately, I won't make it there this weekend. Next year we will be in Naples A LOT during the winter including 2 weeks at Christmas/New Years and the last 2 weeks of March. I should have a boat down there by then so I will meet you at the Snook Inn and buy you a beer, or three! :D
