I spend more of my time on those than I care to admit. I have friends who fly the 7-5 and 7-6 and they both say the exact same thing! (But I have to admit, from a passenger comfort standpoint, Airbus kills Boeing.AsLan7 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 3:32 pm.sailor55330 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2019 2:39 pm We are also supposed to get 10-12” on Saturday. A7–this was probably asked already but what equipment do you fly?

I fly a 262. I used to fly a 240 series but ... wait... Are we still talking about boats?
Seriously, one thing I used to always want was a pilot license, I guess I just never wanted it bad enough to go get one. Life happens! But I have all the respect for you guys. I definitely get to ride around with you or your pahdnahs plenty!

If you fly a Boeing or Airbus think of me every time you land (successfully
) as we provide the bearings in the landing gear.

Ha! I'm sure they will think of you even more in the event of an UNsuccessful landing!

I'll take a 737 (especially Southwest) any day over an A320. The A320's I end up on - usually Jetblue just seem tired. That being said, Southwest's new 737 MAX passenger seats are uncomfortable.sailor55330 wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2019 7:41 amI spend more of my time on those than I care to admit. My wife and I took a Japan Airlines 787 to Tokyo from San Diego late last year and the 787 was great. Also, apparently the 787 can be fixed with duct tape. If you look above the First Officer's windscreen you can see the repair I saw them applying before departure in Tokyo and the tape stayed on until San Diego.

They call it speed tape for a reason! They used to patch Huey blades in Vietnam with it.

Was wondering if anyone would catch that. Nice job k232.
...and yes, we also get a kick out of the FAA approved duct tape. They call it “speed” tape but it looks the same as gorilla duct to me.

My dad worked for Boeing (military side) for over 40 years. He always warned me to avoid Russian aircraft though. Good engineering, poor manufacturing.

I like the wiper blades on that Japan jet. They don't even touch the windscreen.

Ha. Yes, don’t see me flying for the ruskies anytime soon.
Very cool about your dad. My hat goes off to him. I cut my teeth on a Boeing in the military & flew it for 26 years. Thus I’m a BIG fan. It’s AMAZING those engineers designed something with a slide rule back in the 50’s that not only is still flying today....but it’s supposed to keep flying until 2034! Great machines.

In any event, those deployments did help get me out of the brutal winter months in western PA...even though the temp in the Persian Gulf was 125 degrees at times.

Well Boeing pilots... you are both lucky..
When I was figuring out how I was going to spend that 1.6B powerball jackpot, my first purchase was going to be an Airbus A350-1000...outfitted as a party jet.
A pool bar that served Matt’s lemonade, a section for the pups, and ofcourse a buffet serving brisket and burnt ends.. What’s better than a party jet full of boaters without a steering wheel in the cockpit?.
A7 came to mind as a permanent pilot for the CC club jet, but some smart @$$ in South Carolina got my ticket.
I’m going to keep trying though..

My dad worked on pretty neat stuff. He did use a slide rule and claims still he can use it faster than a calculator for many things. Apparently, later on they did get 'computers' but they had to leave their question or equation(?) on their desk at night in a special basket. It would be picked up and run at night on the computer and they would have the solution the next morning back on their desk.AsLan7 wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2019 7:50 pm.kas232ca wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2019 5:45 pmre: Gliderjet. He was recruited out of college by North American Avaition/Rockwell/Boeing where he worked on landing gear, anti-lock braking, then the Apollo, the Space Shuttle, then finally spy satellites. He is interviewed in the Moon Machines documentary https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1203167/ - Wil Swan. I remember as a kid visiting him in El Centro where they did the drop and parachute tests. To this day, he is still good friends with the man who is still the principal designer of all parachutes that have ever been used to bring US spacecraft crew home.
Great looking tanker. Do those have any defensive capabilities?
