Thanks! I've had a lot going on this winter, it's starting to slow down now - finally! Can't wait for spring/summer. 8-)

Hope all is well! :)

The 280 V-6 and 300 V-8 are very comparable in performance top end, but the outa hole isn't the same. My dealer flat out told me the 350 isn't worth the extra $7,000 - 8,000 for 1-3 mph's top end. I'll have to search but there is a torque curve graph floating around and the 300 & 350 are the same from idle -> 5,200 rpm.

I ended up with the 300 and its more than enough, really quick on plane and 50 - 52 gps top end. With the new upgrades VP has made this motor will run right there with the 7.4 310hp my family had in there 226, well, except for top end due to the 226 being a really fast hull.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the info!

I have a 2017 220 with a 300 HP Merc in it. You are looking at 52 mph at the top end with stock props. I ran a larger pitch prop on it last year for a while did not make much difference. For me it runs awesome and hole shots better than any other boat we run with.

Thanks! @ loadtoad.

Looks like for ‘19s, they cant give the same pricing that they are on the 18 models from last year. Unfortunately, the 18 models are all V6 280s.

Think I am going to hold out. At 52mph, I think I will hang on to the 6.2L

My 2017 220S has a Merc 350 hp 6.2. I've added a little cup to the rear 3 blade prop and get a solid 56 mph at 5350 rpm with 2 adults and 1/2 tank. My elevation is just under 3000'. As most have said, go big. You will never regret it.

Good info! Thanks for letting me know.

I can work with these types of numbers :)
