Removing Registration Numbers

Post by lastbuck »

I need to change registration numbers and decals. Any advice on how to do this without hurting gelcoat. Thanks

Yep. Buy a new boat!

Seriously, a heat gun and elbow grease. It's an easy deal.

Lastbuck.. great location! I got our 282 from Beaver lake. Amazing place!

Welcome and I see your signature line has a great Model. Let’s get you to the new members section and get introduced to the crew here.

We’d loce to see and hear more about her and what brought you to Cobalt boats.

Then as Ytmsn said. Off you go to making her yours!

Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum lastbuck. So glad you found us!

As YTMSN metiioned, any heat gun (or hair dryer) followed up by goo gone or goof off for any residual remains will do wonders without hurting the fiberglass.

We’d love to see pics. How’d you get into a Cobalt?
And as Matt said, feel free to start a new thread if ya’ have the time. We always enjoy hearing how folks get into this hobby.

Welcome aboard mate!

If you hit your dock just right, you can wipe them all off in a second.🤣

Thanks for most of those suggestions. I’ll use a hair dryer and Goo Gone. Will post pics and my Cobalt history after I have new numbers in place.

Now that's the way to bring back the Cobalt shine right there. Nice work on old blue. Lol

I'm cutting and changing my numbers when it warms up, if you still haven't done it I'll do a quick write up. I like showing off my mad vinyl skills, lol.

If they are vinyl and the heat gun trick is not working, get yourself an eraser wheel attached to your drill and it will make quick work of those decals or any adhesive residue left behind. 3M Part number is 07498 and any automotive store should have it.
