Ran all new wires throughout as well. Went with a JL Audio M600/6 amp, with six JL Audio MX650 speakers all around. I must say this setup is sweet. Didn't expect it to sound as good as it does. The available power really makes a difference. Can't recommend this setup enough.

I will never run this thing as loud as this can run, and it's still distortion free. Had to play with (lower) the input sensitivity on the amp quite a bit to get reasonable volume range available on the Sony head unit.

I stopped short of installing a sub. Not sure I need it. May change in the future but for now this setup is more than adequate.

Making the harness of wires for the forward port and the three starboard speakers, and running it all up around the bow took the most time. I was pretty anal about the details to be a clean install as well though to be fair. Got everything inside the factory wiring guides, old wiring bundled up and zipped away tight, etc. Was nice having both flexible wire snakes and the solid (but flexible) versions.
Awesome Jt. Considering something similar. Doing mine in phases. Phase 1 will be new head unit, remote controls, sub and amp upgrade. Phase 2 will be tower speakers. Phase 3 will be TV

Enormis Audio https://www.enormis.net/ in Erie PA will be doing the install. They just pulled my boat into their shop today....

I used the Lenox Bi-Metal version as that's what all my other hole saws are, so wanted to be consistent. I think just about any decent hole saw would do fine on fiberglass. Amazon link for the one I used:

Again, thanks for the information! I wanted to make sure that what I used would cut. Is the kevlar portion of the hull only on the oustide or will I have to cut through it on the inside of the boat too?

Thanks in advance.

No clue on that. I will tell you the hole saw ate it up pretty easily. Was a 5 second deal to create the hole. Use painters tape over the area first before drilling. And would suggest not breathing the dust.

Good deal AsLan. I Ebay'ed my amp for about 30% of new, and then figured I would do the install myself and save the $500 in labor someone would charge. Was done in about 5 hrs all in. And I am not a pro by any means. Learned more about my boat in the process.

You have a package arriving Tuesday /w 100ft of power and ground wire. Let's not kid ourselves. This will be installed in a matter of weeks.

Hey BB... I see your WetSounds and raise you a JL Audio sub. Big difference between old and new. Already working on my "All About that Bass" playlist. SeaDek and phase 1 and 2 of the stereo upgrade this winter...all the boat things!

As some of you may not know. Myself and Nauti's have been a bad influence on each other. It's been fun talking stereos and boats every night for the past few weeks. Lol
Jeff I think yours needs to get installed first as you Already have a hole for the thumper.
Katie I hope that play list is with the wire! 🤣🤣🤣

Hey JT...bumping your old post here...noticed we are getting ready to install your same audio setup but with the sub. Curious on how it all sounds when cruising across the lake? Its one thing to be loud coved up but what about while underway? And by cruising,I mean WOT?!

And you are in KC...are you joining us for our Cobalt Factory tour?!?!?!

I didn't get to run it enough after the install to say for sure. I didn't have the stereo on while cruising the outings after the install. Only while coved.

I will say I would be shocked if it is not loud enough while cruising. It can run extremely loud without distortion, and way louder than my family will want it. I think you are safe. There's hundreds, if not thousands of boats out there with six of the MX650's as their setup. Most only run a 4 channel amp. I'm running the 6, so more power all around. Haven't heard of any of them disappointed in the setup. You add a sub, it should sound awesome.

For the tour, I don't think I can make it. I wanted to, but will be working out of town that week, and definitely on Friday the 14th. If it was a Saturday deal, I could have a shot at it. I truly think it's awesome all of you are going. I'm jealous.

For those doing their own installs, best 'trick' I learned when drilling fiberglass/gel is run the drill backwards. Avoids chips and spider cracks. Did this to mount the tower on my last boat and never had an issue.
