WTB: Cobalt 282 with twin drives

Post by Mr Hahn »

So after a year with my 232, which was my first Cobalt, I developed a wish list for my next boat which will be a 282.

• Lots of people like to ride on our boat, we could use more room than our 232.
• It's very hard for our older parents to climb in and out of our boat because of the 232's solid rear bench, a walk through bench is now a must have item.
• We always end up with a cooler on the floor for snacks and drinks, having a fridge would be much better.
• On Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell we need a toilet (by law) if we want to camp far away from other people and campgrounds.
• I want to occasionally go fast on long smooth stretches of of these massive lakes, so I really want twin 8.1L engines. :D
• My wifes favorite color is Blue, it it's blue she will definitely let me buy it. But other colors could work.
• We could care less if it has an arch, we just pull kids around on tubes and knee-boards.

I've looked here, boattrader.com, and mycobalt.net but haven't found one for me yet. It's mostly wanting the twin 8.1l option that's a big problem, but I would consider a smaller pair of engines like twin 5.7L if anybody finds one with a price that's just too low to pass up.

I know where a red one is. Lol lemonade anyone 😜

If you wanted a single 8.1 I bet there is someone else on here that might let it go as they are looking at the big A series. 😱

Yeah, that or the R series. Not really sure which one yet, will see how next weekend goes. So yes, I'll have a 282 for sale if all goes well.

Mr Hahn, you may want to add the extended platform as an essential while you're looking, personally wouldn't want one without it as we use it all the time. Makes boarding from the water easier for the kids and from the dock it's easier for the parents. Those gorgeous fins on the back of the 282 can be slightly intimidating to the older folks trying to board straight to the upper deck. Just some food for thought.

👍

That is a nice looking 282, but be patient as a twin BB will come along.

It's also listed on mycobalt.net at this link http://www.mycobalt.net/2018/10/07/2006 ... ale-in-mo/

If it was somewhat close I'd go take a look at it, but I'm not flying across the country look at it without Big Blocks involved. Could be a good buy for somebody else though.

The one in Canada that tgrace posted is still for sale. It's located about an hour north of Toronto and less than three hours from the border at Niagara Falls. It isn't that difficult to export a Cobalt back to the US.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motor ... nFlag=true

Highlights:

* Black hull with yellow waterline stripe (yes, black boats matter)
* Twin BBs - Volvo 8.1gi
* 240 hours
* Fresh water only
* Captain's Call
* Head, fridge, sink

Does not have the extended platform. Does not come with trailer.

Price is currently $52,700. I suspect an offer in the $45K to 47.5K range would take it.
