Electric head question on R7

Post by TcR7 »

I have a question...I just bought R7 with electric flush toilet option. Where does it get the water to flush with, lake water I assume, but then is there a valve somewhere? It is still on the trailer, and I can’t get any water to the toilet.

Does the bowl hold water? I have read conflicting stories, some say it does, some say no.

It goes into a holding tank that you get pumped out. You also have a fresh water tank that it pulls from.

The boat has to be in the water. Just hold the button down until the pump is primed. It will fill the bowl slightly.

Yes, depending on the model, the bowl will fill with either potable water (as TG98 mentioned) that you carry on board (that's how mine is plumbed)
or
from lake water that is sucked into the bowl (as Tuscany mentioned).

Then it gets routed (flushed) to a holding tank which will eventually need to be sucked out. You do this from the cap on the hull that is labeled "waste". Some boats have a macerator installed which will grind the waste up before it enters the holding tank. Then you'll have purreed poop.

I believe the macerator pump option does not use a tank, but rather dumps it directly overboard, which is legal three miles out in the ocean, but illegal on all inland lakes. Considering the color of water B.B. boats in, it seems that the macerator option is very popular in Wisconsin 🤭🤣
Just kiddin B.B.
I have our tank emptied at the end of the season. Best option on our boat. It’s so nice not having to hear “I got to pee”🤣🤣

Thanks for the info...I found what assume is the seawater inlet valve in front of the engine. Appears that the toilet has a Macerator built in. I’m assuming again that it is plumbed into the holding tank, which I will need to have pumped, if it gets used...just one more item on the check list. I don’t really want it setting all winter with a partial tank, and I may not get to the lake yet this fall...remember I just bought this boat, and the previous owner said “It has been used, but I didn’t pump it out”

I'm having a hard time finding someone that will pump it out while on the trailer. While I'm not ready to winterize just yet, I did have it pumped out while I was on one of the "big lakes" last weekend. None of our inland lakes have the ability to do this either. A bit frustrating....

Not sure it's a option, but have you tried someone who does RV's.

I've called a few of those places. However I think most RV drains are gravity fed. The guys at the dock actually uses a pump/vacuum that pulls waste out the top.

That's the problem I thought you'd run into. You could try a septic company. Or maybe company that supplys/cleans the porta-poties.

Haha🤣
Chautauqua Lake is having a problem with nitrogen which comes from cow 💩 Flowing down from the farms and into the streams and "fertilizing the plant life turning the lake green. Like most inland lakes, its at the bottom of the watershed.
The lake is great...until August...

Your boat has either a holding tank or a macerator. Not both.
Marinas around here can suck the tank out while the boat is on a trailer.
