Steering Wheel
[*]my wife and I just purchase our first cobalt. It is a 2007 212. The only minor issue we can see is the steering wheel. Does anyone know where we can purchase one for this model.
Thanks

Re: Steering Wheel
I'm pretty sure the mounting is pretty universal. There's a bunch on ebay.

Re: Steering Wheel
My steering wheel is not the best either, leather wrapped with wood
The center cap just pops off and their are 5-6 screws that hold steering wheel on
Received a quote from Craft Custom's to repair
http://www.craftcustoms.com/
650.00 plus shipping
Dealer told me if they had that part it would cost over a grand
I'd take Big Block's advice and do a web search

Re: Steering Wheel
No BB, they are most definitely not universal. I bought one thinking that, and had to buy another one. If I remember correctly, it's a nine hole on a 3/4 shaft. The first one I bought looked lIke this;
I ended up with this one and like it a lot better;

Re: Steering Wheel
Ok I should have said the shaft size is more universal. Not a ten inch hole in the middle. What you thinking

Re: Steering Wheel
I've got the wood grain package on my 2005 cobalt 200. The varnish came off the wheel, and the wood started to split. I stripped the wood and glued the split. It had held up about two years, but is starting to split again. I'm thinking about going aftermarket or getting a cobalt wheel with no wood.

Re: Steering Wheel
If your not in a hurry I've seen some factory ones like that pop up on ebay. But there are some very nice non factory ones it there to choose from. If I needed one I would get one like the new style cobalts have. Love them.

Re: Steering Wheel
So where did you get the one you ended up with, from? I am looking for that exact wheel.. just not in red. I found one supplier for like $500 but I don't think I am $500 interested in it.Ytmsn wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2017 8:29 am No BB, they are most definitely not universal. Yeah, they are expensive. The one that I put on my 262 is exactly like the red one but it's black. You can get them cheaper in a little different style.
I ordered mine from CP Performance. There's also the style BB put on his boat with the self-leveling center. He got his on E Bay.

Re: Steering Wheel
I don't remember what I paid for mine. Under $250 I wouldn't spend $500 on a wheel. Anywhere from $100-250 is worth it. Just get the 3/4 center shaft is what Yt is saying. I don't know what kind of hub yt's is using.

Re: Steering Wheel
Actually you don't even have to worry about the 3/4 shaft as long as you're using a 9-pin wheel. Just pry the center cap off and then pull the rubber surround that clamps around the wheel spokes off. Underneath it will be the bolts that attaches the wheel to the adapter. You just center your drive and center your wheel then bolt it on.
Here you go Judd.
